Which motorcycles for less than 7,622.45 euros (50,000 francs) ?
Since 2002, the euro has upset our benchmarks and encouraged the rise in prices … However, with the crisis, measuring the value of its purchases has nevertheless become crucial: MNC lists all motorcycles below the 50,000 FF mark, i.e. € 7,622.45 ! Purchase guide.
Is the euro muddling the waters ?
Adopted on January 1, 1999 in eleven European countries, the single currency gradually took the place of our good old French francs until it completely replaced them as of January 1, 2002.
We remember that this "monetary revolution" followed a period of transition, during which traders had to adopt a dual price display system to familiarize consumers with their new currency: a reflex not so easy to acquire in view of the Euro / Franc parity (1 euro = 6.55957 francs)…
The case of European production… |
With the exception of Husqvarna, European motorcycles are, unfortunately, the major omissions from this practical guide to motorcycles under € 7,622.45 (turnkey prices, excluding promotions) … Often considered more dynamic and more exciting than their counterparts Japanese, European “entry-level” products remain more expensive and do not manage (yet?) to slip below the famous symbolic bar of 50,000 francs. The “fault” lies in less distribution on an international scale, but also in a deliberately more qualitative production policy which requires more expensive industrialization methods. Japanese manufacturers also benefit from a more developed image and network of dealerships, thanks to more general ranges that generate more sales and facilitate the reuse of many components on different models..
But thanks to the inversion of the Yen / Euro ratio, production "made in the EU", which has also taken better advantage of the financial turmoil than the Japanese manufacturers (read our), has refined its offer: some motorcycles are very close to their competitors. in terms of pricing, narrowly missing their entry into this practical guide: this is notably the case of the Triumph Street Triple (€ 7,990), the Ducati Monster 696 (€ 7,990), the BMW F800R ( € 7,990), the Moto Guzzi Breva 750 (€ 7,790) and the Aprilia Shiver 750 (€ 7,799). Finally, on the other side of the Atlantic, the first Harley-Davidson (the Sportster 883 Low) is exchanged for € 7,795. |
The single European currency has many advantages (traveling in the "Euro" zone without going through the expensive "Bureau de change" box) and wanting to cling to francs eight years after their departure would testify to a backward stubbornness tinged with a point of chauvinism !
In fact, far from demanding a return to the franc as some extremists are already doing, the editorial staff of Site simply wished to highlight a certain upheaval in the economic environment of the French "consomotard": in addition to the fact that most prices have copiously swollen with the changeover to the euro, the abandonment of the franc leads to an update of our purchasing benchmarks…
The observation is simple: if the quality / price ratio of most of our current acquisitions has now been established, the matter becomes particularly complicated when larger investments are made. Lack of habit, modification of "psychological thresholds", clumsy attempts at conversions with francs: our brain sometimes struggles to estimate the real value of a product … and this relative difficulty is certainly not foreign to the success of comparators price on the Internet !
To this, some of our readers (the youngest, no doubt …) will retort that with the generalization of the euro, no need for conversions to validate its purchase. Logical, this reasoning is all the more relevant as it comes under the ineluctable obligation to live with the times. But whatever ! It lacked a buying guide for medium-displacement motorcycles placed under the psychological bar of 50,000 francs (or 7,622.45 euros but admit that it speaks less!). It’s now done: detailed overview and summary of the strengths / weaknesses of what two-wheeler manufacturers offer for "five bricks" (new motorcycles, 2010 vintages, turnkey prices, excluding promotions or discounts in concessions ). follow the guide !
