BMW has just unveiled the new price list for its motorcycles and scooters, in which there are substantial price increases. All models of the propeller brand are affected by this inflation which extends from 90 to 1205 euros !

Bad surprise for bikers who plan to buy a BMW motorcycle to take advantage of the end of the summer: this month of September 2018 marks the entry into force of a new price list at the German manufacturer, which shows increases on almost all models.

The K1600 Grand America is the motorcycle "victim" of the most significant increase, with a price raised from 26,780 to 27,985 euros. This spectacular jump of 1,205 euros (!) Is all the more surprising as this luxurious 6-cylinder roadster has just joined the range! Would BMW have repositioned itself in the face of competition, in particular? Note, however, that the Grand America now receives speakers as standard in its top-case, which it was deprived of until now (read our update below).

BMW’s scooter range is no exception to this increase (unlike the purchasing power of the lambda biker): it goes from 11,400 to 11,650 euros (+ 250 €), while the electric jumps the counter to 15 700 euros (+ 300 €)! Note that the new is displayed at 6,950 euros.

Update of September 6, 2018 : Following the publication of this article, BMW France communicated to Site some of the reasons behind these price increases. The French subsidiary mentions in particular a "classic industrial increase, as every year". In other words: the price swells to follow the upward trend in the cost of production, a common practice among all manufacturers. In addition, BMW emphasizes that significant discounts are underway in its network: up to 1,200 euros with the purchase of several models, to which are added 300 euros for young permits. 

The communications manager of BMW France also informs us that the K1600 Grand America – motorcycle affected by the highest increase – has undergone a technical modification which would justify the revision of its price: speakers are now installed in the top case to improve the listening quality of the passenger. This unexpected change on a new model – the Grand America has only been in dealerships since this spring! – had not been announced by the brand.

Finally, BMW France informs us that another reason explains these increases, but that "we can not yet disclose it to date". In short: stay connected on MNC !
