With the RC 390 R, KTM has renovated its basic road racing motorcycle. With an extensive motorsport kit, it can also be used in the Supersport 300 championships.

With the KTM RC 390 R, the Austrian manufacturer has a motorcycle in its range with which young racing drivers can go to the racetrack without further ado. The new basic racetrack model from KTM is limited to a total of 500 units. In principle, the R is based on the well-known standard RC 390 model. Road approval is also possible. However, KTM equips the racing model with some higher quality parts. The completely new and fully adjustable spring elements were created in cooperation with WP Suspension.

The adjustable clip-on handlebars are designed to provide various setting options in order to find the ideal position on the bike. Thanks to the CNC-milled fork bridge, the developers were also able to reduce the weight of the machine. However, KTM has not yet revealed how much the RC 390 R ultimately weighs. Compared to the basic model, the Austrian manufacturer is equipping the new KTM RC 390 R with shorter intake ducts, which should result in more even performance characteristics. The new racing model for beginners is available for 8,500 euros.

Racing kit for the Supersport 300

For use in national and international SSP300 championships, KTM also offers a so-called SSP300 racing kit, with which the new KTM RC 390 R can be transformed into a real competition bike. The kit, limited to 50 pieces, is offered by the KTM Customer Racing department. Thanks to the kit, the R can be transformed from a homologated production bike into a racing motorcycle. The kit complies with the international SSP300 regulations valid in 2018. The set consists of 230 individual parts.

Including the SSP300 racing kit, the new KTM RC 390 R costs 11,000 euros.

The kit consists, among other things, of a titanium exhaust system developed in cooperation with Akrapovic, including a modified engine set-up, a slipper clutch, a complete racing harness, a quickshifter, customized fairing parts, an additional cooler and a second set of wheels.

The kit cannot be combined with RC 390 variants released before model year 2017. The SSP300 racing kit without a motorcycle costs 11,000 euros.
