CQFD Air Solution, a small Var company created in 1991 by engineer Guy Nègre, has developed a compressed air engine.

CQFD Air Solution, a small Var company created in 1991 by engineer Guy Nègre, has developed a clean engine that runs on air.

In fact, as Guy Nègre explains, "all current engines run on compressed air: the fuel is only used to heat the air to expand it and put pressure on the pistons". The originality of his idea is therefore simply based on increasing the pressure by injecting compressed air into the chamber, without creating combustion and therefore without polluting. CQFD…

Reservoirs store compressed air using an on-board compressor, which can be plugged into a power outlet at home. In terms of performance, the first prototypes have a top speed of 110 km / h and a range of 200 km.

But the problem of energy management makes them more suitable for exclusively urban use: 300 liters of compressed air represents about 50 megajoules, or 16 to 20 HP. Which, explains Guy Nègre, "allows you to drive 20 hours with a power HP, or 1 hour with 20 HP, or 15 minutes with 80 HP"."But", he assures,"to accelerate in town, 4 or 5 CV is sufficient".

Soon a Hayabusa 1300 with compressed air? In the meantime, the system is marketed by Motors Development International through a system of factories under franchise of the McDonald’s type..
