Yamaha Yard Built Competition 2020
These are the winning designs
At the beginning of 2020, Yamaha announced another yard built competition, in which the aim was to breathe its own custom spirit into a Yamaha XSR 700 as the basic model. Now the four winners have been determined.
In the 2020 Yamaha Yard Built competition, contestants should get the retro model YCustomize the amaha XSR 700. The designs were submitted to Yamaha and then evaluated by a national jury. All of the country winners then submitted to a public vote. In the end, four designs from four countries were selected and each implemented by a local customizer. Originally, the winning bikes were supposed to be at the Festival Wheels & Waves will be presented in Biarritz in Jui 2020. Corona also thwarted this planning. The winning bikes can now be seen online.
Yamaha XSR 700 Disruptive

The Yamaha XSR 700 Disruptive, penned by Barbara Motorcycles, comes from France. The design was realized by the renowned customizers from Bad Winners in Paris. The XSR 700 Disruptive competes in the style of the flat-track machines from the 1970s. The cockpit is extremely reduced, the tank-seat line is flat and the rear is short. A disk wheel rotates at the rear. Retro became retro to the power of two.
Yamaha RD 350 Tribute

The Italian participant Ugo Coppola drew the distinctive RD 350 Tribute, an orange-black adaptation of the classic Yamaha RD 350 from the 1970s. The RD 350 Tribute was manufactured by Garage221 in Rome. In the course of the conversion, parts of the Yamaha models XJR 1300, MT-07 and MT-09 as well as the SCR 950 also moved to the bike.
Yamaha 700 GT
Yamaha

The Portuguese contribution is contributed by Tony Manuel Oliveira Querios, who was inspired by his father’s Yamaha XJ 400 for his design. But elements of the Yamaha Scrambler YR-2 and YR-3 from the 1960s can also be found on the bike. The clad fork tubes, the disc wheel at the front and the raised double rear silencer are striking. Customizer Ruamachines is responsible for the implementation of the Yamaha 700 GT.
Yamaha XSR 700 Red Tail
Yamaha
Yamaha “XSR 700 Red Tail” designed by Alex & Claudio Monge, built by Cafe Racer SSpirit.
XSR 700 Red Tail is what the Spanish participants Alex and Claudio Monge call their competition entry, which was implemented by Cafe Racer SSpirit (CRSS). Here, too, the flat-track fuel really comes through. The start number plates and the paintwork in the classic Yamaha Racing colors make the machine a real racer.
