Black Coffee

The brand new Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer will be at EICMA 2016 – one of six models in the Scrambler family. As the name suggests, she dresses in the popular Cafe Racer look.

Two years ago, Ducati presented the first Srambler models at INTERMOT 2014. From then on, the not at all super sporty Ducati emerged S.crambler made their way to the top of the best-selling Ducati in recent years. In 2015, it placed ninth in the new registration statistics with 1,662 units sold. The second most popular Ducati followed in 33rd place: the Multistrada 1200 with 920 newly registered models. In the overall analysis of 2016 up to and including September, the Ducati Scrambler ranks tenth, the Multistrada 1200 currently follows in 29th place.

Against this background, it is not surprising that Ducati is now presenting two further model variants of the Scrambler at EICMA 2016: the Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer and the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled.

The Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer rolls on 17-inch wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II in the dimensions 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 180/55 ZR 17 at the rear. For the air-cooled two-cylinder L-engine, the Cafe Racer uses the Scrambler Icon shelf – stylishly painted black and of course Euro 4-compliant. The revised engine management and the changed throttle transmission should ensure an even smoother response in the lower speed range.

Ducati has also thought of customization options for this Scrambler model: The side covers on the tank can be exchanged and combined with a matching seat and passenger cover. One of the most noticeable differentiating criteria from the other Scrambler derivatives are the rear-view mirrors mounted on the end of the aluminum clip-on handlebars.

What is the number 54 all about? This place on the Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer is dedicated to the racing driver Bruno Spaggiari who started the road race in 1968 "Mototemporada Romagnola" drove on a Ducati with a 350cc single cylinder scrambler engine.

Brembo brakes and Bosch ABS

Back to the future: The Ducati Scrambler Cafe Racer comes with Brembo brakes and the Bosch ABS 9.1 MP. At the front, a combination of a 5 mm thick, 330 mm large single disc and a radially mounted 4-piston fixed caliper decelerates, at the rear a single-piston floating caliper with a 245 mm large brake disc and 32 mm brake piston is mounted.

Price, data and equipment at a glance:

  • Desmodue two-cylinder L-engine, Euro 4-compliant, painted black with milled cooling fins
  • Six-speed gearbox; 55 kW (75 PS) at 8,250 rpm; 68 Nm at 5,750 rpm; Service interval of 12,000 km or once a year
