Challenger for Royal Enfield

Honda is now countering the overwhelming power of Royal Enfield on the Indian market with the completely new CB 350. It relies on an air-cooled single cylinder and a retro look.

I.n India, Royal Enfield dominates the market for large-volume machines up to 500 cc with its 350 models. With the new CB 350, Honda is now trying to counter this supremacy. And the Japanese not only have courage but also a sense of humor. Against the Royal by Enfield, they use the title H’ness (Highness) as a nickname for the CB 350.

Single with 21 hp

And although it has a classic look, it has many technical features. The basis is a 348 cm³, air-cooled single cylinder, which brings it to 21 HP and 30 Nm torque. The mixture is formed by an injection, it is shifted through five gears and started electrically. The tubular steel frame with split girder supports a telescopic fork at the front, while the tubular steel swing arm is supported by stereo struts at the rear. The front and rear mudguards are made of real sheet metal and decorated with real chrome. The exhaust system is also shiny. For the deceleration work, Honda clamps a 310 mm disc on the 19-inch front wheel and a 240 mm disc combined with ABS on the 18-inch rear wheel. The cast rims are covered with 110/90 and 130/70 tires. The elegant sheet metal tank in front of the 800 millimeter high bench holds 15 liters of fuel. The total weight should be 181 kilograms.

Connectivity and traction control

In the cockpit, a round instrument with an analog speed display and digital multifunction display bundles all information. The mandatory indicator lights are next to it. But the cockpit also serves as a networking center. Mobile devices can be integrated via Bluetooth. There are further operating elements for menu control on the left handlebar fitting. Among other things, the traction control can be adjusted here. The lighting of the Honda H’ness CB350 is based entirely on LED technology.

The new Honda H’ness CB350 is available in six color variants, three of which are based on an elegant two-tone paint finish. The prices should be the equivalent of around 2,200 euros.

Conclusion

In India, Honda is trying to pee on the leg of the dominant Royal Enfield group with a beautifully made retro model. A motorcycle of this design with a two-cylinder approximately 500 cm³ would also be a great A2 model for Europe.
