New lines, new engine, more equipment

With new lines, a new engine and more equipment, the 125cc Honda scooter PCX rolls into model year 2021.

The Honda scooter PCX is one of the secret bestsellers in the Honda model range. Since the launch year 2010, over 140,000 copies of the 125 have found a buyer. For the 2021 model year, the PCX will therefore be given plenty of model updates in order to successfully continue the success story.

The 2021 PCX is based on a completely new engine-frame combination. A completely redesigned bodywork is slipped over it.

New motor

The new water-cooled SOHC four-valve engine of the PCX 125 delivers 12.5 hp at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque of 11.8 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Acceleration from standstill has been improved; the top speed is now 98 km / h. With a consumption of 2.1 liters and 8.1 liters of fuel, ranges of around 385 kilometers are possible. A new feature on board is traction control, which can also be deactivated. The starter in the new engine also acts as an alternator. An automatic start / stop system automatically stops the engine after three seconds of idling, provided the PCX is at a standstill and the brake is applied. If the battery charge is too low, it switches off automatically. A new rear silencer and a repositioned catalytic converter do their part to meet the Euro 5 standard.

Chassis revised

The new drive unit swing arm is docked to a new tubular steel frame, which is designed to promote handling and agility with its geometry. The wheels are also modified. The 14-inch rim remains at the front, but the tire size has increased to 110/70. At the back, the rim shrinks an inch to 13 inches. For this purpose, a wider tire is now fitted with a 130/70 tire. The fork remains unchanged, the rear suspension struts get ten millimeters more spring travel and stronger springs. The ready-to-drive weight remains unchanged at 130 kilograms.

Newly drawn cladding

Honda

The redesigned cladding looks more futuristic and, thanks to its wider upper part, offers more wind and weather protection as well as more foot space for the driver. The lighting concept is characterized by new LED lights at the front and rear. Under the unchanged 765 millimeter high bench, the storage compartment has grown by 2.4 to 30.4 liters. However, it only holds a full-face helmet. In the glove compartment, a USB charging socket replaces the ACC socket of the previous model. A new instrument display informs the driver. The LC display shows the speed, supplemented by mileage and daily mileage, tank content, average consumption and the start / stop function. The extended smart key system controls the ignition lock, the seat lock and the optional 35 liter top case.

The 2021 Honda PCX125 is available in the colors Pearl Jasmine White, Candy Luster Red, Matt Galaxy Black Metallic and the new color Matt Dim Gray Metallic. Honda has not yet announced prices. So far, the PCX has cost from 3,134 euros plus additional costs.
