Test Yamaha FZ8 ABS
Yamaha naked bike with ABS
The new FZ8 from Yamaha is naked, relatively undisguised. But why the manufacturer called them "The sheer madness" advertises on its homepage, is not really accessible.

The test motorcycle was equipped with some parts from the Yamaha accessories: -slim license plate holder, radiator cover, engine cover, sports screen, crash pads, LED indicators and seat cover. These special attachments increase the base price by 960 euros.
When driving, the Yamaha FZ8 ABS is thankfully lamb-pious. Which does not mean that the engine is sluggish or not very fiery. No, the four-cylinder strolls up to 4500 rpm on the country road, from 6000 rpm it pours enough oil into the fire and reaches its maximum output of 106 hp at 10,000 rpm. The direct Japanese competition has slightly more to offer with 113 hp in the Kawasaki Z 800. But it’s not just about top performance.
The engine of the Yamaha FZ8 ABS impresses with its smooth throttle response and smoothness. Vibrations are kept within limits. Only the slight trailer at 4500 rpm bothers a little when overtaking. But a simple downshift in the well-stepped gearbox is enough to get things going.

Test Yamaha FZ8 ABS
Yamaha naked bike with ABS
Yamaha FZ8 ABS can now be enjoyed by even sporty drivers, because the rear remains much quieter. However, the suspension elements of the 800 series do not come close to the qualities of a pure sports suspension: Even with full preload and closed damping, the Yamaha FZ8 ABS remains a good-natured motorcycle that still pampers with sufficient comfort.

The spring preload and rebound stage of the fork are now adjustable.
This is not only due to the successful suspension set-up and 130 millimeters of travel at the front and rear, but also by the seating position, which is ideal for people between 1.65 and 1.80 meters. Footrests, handlebar ends and seat are exactly where you would probably have liked to screw them. The FZ8 integrates its drivers perfectly, and even short contemporaries can stand safely on the floor thanks to the narrow waist and low seat height of just 810 millimeters.
The only downer: The FZ8 is fitted with an outdated Bridgestone BT 021 ex works, which steers stiffly and sluggishly when cold and is not a handling miracle even when it is warm. A more manageable tire would probably be awesome in this case.
