Zero SR / S
Electric motorcycle also with full fairing
The American electric motorcycle manufacturer Zero also brings the SR / F in a variant with full fairing and calls it SR / S. However, the technology remains unchanged.
Even before the new ones are presented Zero SR / F there were rumors about a whole family of models related to the new construction kit. With the sighting of a fully disguised version of the SR / F near the US company headquarters, the hitherto unconfirmed reports received new food at the end of 2019. At the end of January 2020, Zero confirmed the premiere of the fully faired sports tourer Zero SR / S for February 24, 2020. Because a lot of information has already become known prematurely through a data leak, Zero prefers the presentation of the SR / S.
Full fairing and revised ergonomics
This also makes it clear: In principle, the SR / S can actually be called a Zero SR / F with fairing. The ZF75-10 electric motor developed by Zero itself and the 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery are also used in the SR / S. This combination should also be good in the SR / S for 190 Nm torque and 110 hp. The electronically limited top speed of a maximum of 200 km / h also remains unchanged. Due to the revised ergonomics and the full fairing, the comfort and general functionality should have improved significantly compared to the SR / F. The maximum range should also have increased by 13 percent and thus to 323 kilometers thanks to the aerodynamically more favorable full fairing. However, only if the optionally available PowerTank from Zero is used. The sport touring bike is visually different from the well-known naked bike.

The Zero SR / S will initially be available in two different colors.
In terms of seating position, the SR / S should be clearly differentiated from the SR / F. Thanks to the lower footrests, the higher handlebars and, last but not least, the larger seat area, it should be much more comfortable. The suspension from Showa has been re-tuned for increased two-person operation.
Bosch cornering ABS and traction control
The battery can be charged at a type 2 charging station. Equipped with the optional 6 kW charger, the battery should be recharged from 0 to 95 percent in just one hour. Apart from that, Zero has given the new sports tourer the driving modes Street, Sport, Eco and Rain. In addition, drivers can individually configure ten other driving modes. Zero also equips the new SR / S with cornering ABS and traction control from Bosch, the so-called Cypher III operating system, and a cockpit that can be connected to the smartphone via an app. With the help of the app, various parameters such as the motorcycle location, charging status, driving data and system status can be called up. As with the SR / F, Zero relies on the Diablo Rosso III from Pirelli for the series tires.
Premium model costs from 23,740 euros.
Zero has already commented on the price. In Germany, prices for the premium version with a 6 kW fast charger and heated handles are expected to start at 23,740 euros. In Austria, the premium version is 200 euros more expensive. The standard model of the Zero SR / S with a 3 kW fast charger is available in Germany from 21,540 euros and in Austria from 21,740 euros. Both model variants are available in “Silver” or “Cerulian Blue”. The new Zero SR / S should find its way to dealers as early as March 2020. The Zero SR / S will celebrate its European premiere at the Dortmund motorcycle fair from March 5th to 8th, 2020.
Conclusion
With the SR / S, Zero serves all those interested in buying an electric motorcycle who are not enthusiastic about a naked bike and are looking for something more comfortable. In the basic virtues, the sports tourer is still based on the very successful SR / F from Zero.
