Fake radars but real fines: decoy has come…
With bad grace, the State had undertaken to let the motorcycles circulate in full in 2016. Promise not kept, since the retrofit on the Euro3 motorcycles – largely majority – is still not recorded. On the other hand, no delay is taken on repressive measures such as the establishment of "decoy control" zones, entire sections, etc.
With bad grace, the State had undertaken to let the motorcycles circulate in full in 2016. Promise not kept, since the retrofit on the Euro3 motorcycles – largely majority – is not. On the other hand, no delay is taken on repressive measures such as the establishment of "decoy control" areas, entire sections on which flashing booths are announced … but not necessarily installed !
Smile, you are flashed … or not !
Among the new tools at the service of its repressive hype, the government announced during the introduction of "decoy radar" zones, in addition to the traditional increase in the number of flashing cabs following the results of road fatalities (read).
Concretely, these areas of "decoy radars" – in the meantime renamed "decoy control areas" – are portions where automatic radars are announced by the usual signs "For your safety, frequent radar checks", but where the machine cash flashes will not necessarily be installed.
Since this announcement, the inventors responsible for Road Safety have refined their evil trap safety device since inside these areas of "decoy controls" could be installed one, either the brand new movable model – pride of Cruchot et Cie – originally designed to monitor portions of roads under construction.
And to be sure not to miss anyone, controls carried out by the police (real humans in flesh and blood) equipped with "new generation mobile radars" will be frequently organized on the axis concerned. You said mousetrap ?
I came back lured from Pas-de-Calais !
The first section of road affected by this new gear is located in the Pas-de-Calais department (62), more precisely on the 37 kilometers which separate Aubigny-en-Artois and Le Parcq via the departmental n ° 939. An axis counting "6 deaths and 28 serious injuries" over the past five years, specifies Road Safety to justify its choice.
Since February 8, this stretch of road – where there are already two fixed speed cameras! – has become a "decoy checks" area, more exactly a "lure by panels" area: thus, no less than "11" new warning signs "Frequent radar checks" will be installed by the end of the week.
“These signs, distributed in each direction of traffic, precede ten locations on which an autonomous radar can be installed. This is already present on a location in the town of Berles-Monchel, until now indicated by temporary panels. These will give way to fixed signs at the end of the week, ”announces Road Safety. Having trouble keeping up? No big deal: the important thing is to maintain the doubt, even the fear !
Coupled with "manual" controls via the famous "new generation mobile radars" announced above, this autonomous radar will be "regularly moved" throughout the ten designated locations. As for the 11th panel announced, MNC has still not fully understood its usefulness…
5,000 locations affected by 2020
Before the end of the month, a second route will be equipped with this brilliant device of "lures by panels", this time in another department. Which ? No one knows yet! What is certain, however, is that the State will widely deploy its new "trap" since by the end of 2016, "100 routes classified as dangerous will also be equipped with it, corresponding to 500 locations of possible controls ".
And this first crackdown is only a foretaste since the device will then be increased to "1,000 routes and 5,000 locations by 2020", promises the government, much more quick to keep this kind of promises than to put in place other commitments such as lowering unemployment or … retrofitting, at random !
"Lure by cabin" zones in 2017 … while waiting for the drone attack !
Finally, in addition to these "lure by panels" areas, the famous "decoy radars" will also be set up from 2017: renamed "lure by cabins" zones, these road sections will see the appearance of fixed cabins "which will sometimes be empty or sometimes equipped with a radar carrying out checks ", describes Road Safety with a keen sense of suspense…
"The objective is to put an end to the bad behavior of certain users who slow down when approaching a radar to better re-accelerate afterwards, without respecting the speed limits", the government body is angry to justify the fact that it seems perfectly legitimate to fool citizens on the pretext of protecting them.
This reasoning, however criticizable – when will the forfeiture of nationality for bad drivers? – shows on the contrary the limits of a system based almost exclusively on radars – whether they are factitious or real, fixed or autonomous, red lights or speed … Until the day when "radars-drones" will enter slyly in action !
Science fiction? Not sure: in accordance with the announcements made during the, the police are already equipping themselves with drones, ultimately responsible for spotting from the sky misbehavior on the road: crossing a continuous line, dangerous overtaking , etc.
According to our colleagues from, experiments are underway with models capable of evolving at an altitude of 50 or 150 meters and up to 70 km / h, invoiced a trifle of 50,000 euros per piece. But when we love (verbalize), we don’t count (the spending of public money) !
