The Facebook group on the radars released in cassation

The Court of Cassation has just released the "Facebook group that tells you where the police are in Aveyron", condemned at first instance for "evasion of the observation of traffic offenses". The lawyer Remy Josseaume, who defended 12 of the 14 defendants since the beginning of this case, is delighted with this decision and underlines that it "is now a case law".

The members of the Facebook group who had been convicted at first instance and released on appeal for having published the location of speed cameras and road checks in the department of Aveyron (read) have just been released by the Court of Cassation in a decision who should set a precedent.  

The judges of the highest French court confirmed yesterday, Tuesday September 6, that there is "no ban on announcing the presence of speed cameras and road checks using a social network".

"This decision also puts an end to the hypocrisy which consisted on the one hand in authorizing the marketing of electronic devices also having this purpose and on the other in suing Internet users communicating with each other through social networks", rejoices the lawyer specializing in road law Remy Josseaume.

"It is naturally a snub for those who initiated the proceedings and for those who supported them. If it has never been forbidden to make lighthouse calls, for lack of text prohibiting this practice, it is now judged that ‘it is not forbidden to alert other users of the presence of road checks ".
