Rieju MR 300 Racing (2021)
New off-roader based on gas gas
With the Rieju MR 300 Racing, a new off-road motorcycle based on gas gas is in the starting blocks, which is to be produced from May 2020.
Had in early April R.ieju started a vote on various social media channels, in which fans of the brand were allowed to determine the new design of the MR 300 Racing. Users could choose between ten different designs. The new MR 300 Racing will be based on earlier GasGas models. Rieju only announced at the beginning of March that it would take over GasGas and, in future, use it as a basis for off-road motorcycles. Production of the new MR 300 Racing should start as early as May.
Components from Kayaba and Nissin installed
Rieju has meanwhile also commented on the technical data. The MR 300 Racing is powered by a liquid-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine with 299 cm³. The spring elements come from Kayaba. For the brake components, Rieju relies on stoppers from Nissin (260 disc at the front, 220 disc at the rear). 9.8 liters should fit into the tank. The manufacturer states that the seat height is 960 millimeters, the weight 105 kilograms and the tire dimensions 1.6 x 21-90 / 90 (front) / 2.15 x 18-140 / 80 (rear). The Michelin Enduro Medium TT are strapped on ex works.
Rieju has not yet commented on the price. The new enduros will be produced in the Figueres plant (Spain). The first models will be delivered as early as June 2020. Apart from the MR 300 Racing, two more Enduros from the former GasGas platform will be at the start. In addition to the Racing, GasGas also offered the two model variants Ranger and GP. It can be assumed that this model strategy will continue at Rieju.
Conclusion
With its new MR 300 Racing, Rieju picks up where GasGas left off with its Enduros. Incidentally, it was a nice idea that fans of the brand were allowed to have a say in determining the design.
