Kawasaki Z750 vs. Yamaha FZ8: The 2010 Match !

Road - Kawasaki Z750 vs. Yamaha FZ8: the 2010 match! - There can only be one ...

Unbeaten for 5 years, the Kawasaki Z750 sees the appearance this year of an opponent to its size: the Yamaha FZ8! Cubing a little more and offering a compromise more oriented towards comfort, can the newcomer win this decisive match? ? Duel !

There can only be one…

The Kawasaki Z750 has already dominated the French motorcycle market for five years: as soon as it arrived in the late 2003, this strange-looking motorcycle – strongly inspired by Japanese comics and famous manga – was immediately adopted by French bikers. Love at first sight cannot be explained … Although !

In France, the "Zed seven and a half" quickly established itself as the absolute reference in the segment of mid-capacity roadsters, the largest in France in terms of volume: as proof, last month it passed the milestone of 40,000 sales in France (read our and).

At the base of this success never denied – and even consolidated by the redesign of the model in 2007 (read our): a "big" 749 cc engine, a playful cycle part and a price to be made green – hohoho – the competitors !

The favorite motorcycle or brand of French bikers ?

What seriously arouse the jealousy of other Japanese manufacturers on paper … but not much in reality if we judge by the reaction time of the most "French" of Japanese manufacturers: Yamaha! First to draw – seven years later, all the same! -, the brand in tuning forks justifies this late reaction by gently reminding you that France is not the center of the world – yes, you have to get used to it! – and that the new FZ8 is first of all the ideal complement to its range of roadsters before being a "Z-killer" (read our).

Between the adorable XJ6 and the nasty FZ1 comes the FZ8, a 2010 novelty with which Yamaha intends to regain the supremacy of the late Fazer / FZ6 !

In an attempt to beat the Z750, Yamaha has decided to create a sort of "best of" of its current production: aluminum frame and arms from the FZ1, low engine from the same roadster – inherited from the R1 of 2008, please. ! -, design in line with the FZ and optics strongly inspired by the XJ6…

So much so that the new Yamaha can in no way deny its origins … and we almost come to regret that the designers did not try to renew a little the style of the roadsters with tuning forks !

The FZ8 is therefore not the motorcycle that will allow its owner to differentiate himself. But given the number of Z750s that populate our streets, this desire is not necessarily the first priority of the target clientele! Those who like the Yam ‘will love the FZ8, those who swear by the Zed will not change their mind.

And face to face, what do these two motorcycles give ?
