Rallye de Charente: Luc Breban winner and Bruno Schiltz champion of France !
With his comfortable lead before the final of the 2019 French Championship at the Rallye de Charente in Rouillac (16), Bruno Schiltz did not have to win the last event.. The Aprilia rider pocketed his second scratch title after that of 2017, this time riding an 1100 Tuono. Story.
Second Rally of Charente
This second edition of the Charente rally was brilliantly won by Luc Breban, already champion of the Rallye 1 category. The driver of the KTM 790 Duke could even have overshadowed the Elite SW Motech scratch classification to Bruno Schiltz, who did not had to earn only 8 points (out of the 30 possible per stage) to be crowned French scratch Elite SW Motech champion 2019.
Objective achieved for Bruno in the first stage: he finished the day stage in fifth place and has enough points for the title! The rest of the rally (the second stage, at night) will be for Bruno a blow "for nothing" as a dilettante, if only to honor his new title.
The C.O.R.R.C. led by Thierry Dupuis, organizer of this final of the 2019 French road rally championship, did not do things by halves. New rally in the championship, the Charente event can even be included among the best events of this championship.
We regret the last minute withdrawal of Marc Troussard, the former record holder for the number of championship titles in road rally (beaten last year by Julien Toniutti). Invited as a VIP by the rally committee, Marc will be the victim of a series of misadventures during his preparation, crowned among other technical problems on the motorcycle by a breakdown of his means of transport (bearings of the wheels of the HS trailer), at night before the start of the rally when everything was set to the minute to arrive just before the start. He was to participate in this final in the "Classic" category on the handlebars of his 1991 Yamaha 750 Super Tenere… But when you love, you don’t give up: he is present at the event to make you experience it from the inside but as a pedestrian and with a slight lack of sleep !
The course is appreciated by the vast majority of the 129 pilots present: three loops are planned for the first stage (two of 97 km and one of 87 km) with two selective stages per loop, one of 3.2 km (CITF) and the another 2.2 km (Champmillon).
The second stage, at night, is planned in two 87 km loops. The hourly average imposed at 60 km / h on the connecting route will add a bit of spice to this magnificent Charente route. You don’t have to fall asleep and carefully follow the road book !
We can only blame the weather for not having been the most lenient … The rain tried to spoil the party, but it was wasted as the organization was at the top, the timing impeccable and the atmosphere as always friendly than the one that sticks to the road rally !
