Road safety - Ducati offered 9,500 Dainese backbones to its customers - Used DUCATI

Dominator in WSBK and MotoGP champion in 2007, Ducati is more renowned for its constant search for performance than for its involvement in road safety. However, since the end of 2008, the Reds offer a backbone with each motorcycle sold. !

With more than 700 World Superbike podiums and an 800 GP9 capable of beating the biggest manufacturers in MotoGP – at least, in the hands of Casey Stoner … – Ducati has the competition pegged to the twin and each of its models is wants the perfect illustration.

Most of the Italian manufacturer‘s motorcycles are entirely geared towards efficiency, they promise unique sensations and (ultra) sporty outings, but do not concede much to the requirements of daily safety: apart from the DTC (Ducati Traction Control) responsible for regulating the evasions of the rear wheel, no Ducati offers ABS and it is a safe bet that the development of the airbag on an 1198 S is not really one of the priorities of the engineers of Bologna !

However, Ducati is nevertheless very far from neglecting the safety of its customers: on the occasion of the Intermot show in Cologne 2008, the leader of the Reds, Gabriele del Torchio, announced "that from October 2008, every customer buying a Ducati in Europe would receive back protector"(read).

This concrete measure is supposed to "help Ducatists to become aware of their safety by wearing adequate and appropriate protective equipment, including back protection".

But beyond this action, the Bologna manufacturer has also committed to "promote safety and sign the European Road Safety Charter, thus contributing to the prerogatives set by the European Union".

Thus, since the implementation of this interesting project, Ducati ensures that more than 9,500 Dainese back protectors have been distributed in Europe, including 1,600 in France. It remains to be seen whether the idea will be emulated by other manufacturers … Stay tuned !
