The mayor of Paris tries to reconcile with motorized two-wheelers

Road safety - The mayor of Paris tries to come to terms with motorized two-wheelers -

After having worked hard on motorized two-wheelers since his election, the mayor of Paris attempted a seduction operation by writing to MM. Perben and Sarkozy to ask them to authorize the escalation of lines… Fortunately being ridiculous will not kill you !

Would Bertrand Delanoë feel the ball of a possible electoral defeat in 2008, because of his relentlessness as stubborn as incomprehensible against motorized two-wheelers? Still, the mayor of Paris is now increasing the appeals of the foot in the direction of bikers and urban scooterists.

After struggling to complicate their lives by throwing them out of the bus lanes despite all safety, by condoning the stalking of non-intrusive parking on the sidewalks when it is almost impossible to park elsewhere and without ever recognizing the interest of motorized two-wheelers in the city in terms of fluidity, the mayor of Paris is trying a new "seduction operation" concerning the rise of the lines.

Pulling out of the boxes a vague project for a "Motorized two-wheeler charter" (read and), Bertrand Delanoë is now trying to attract the sympathy of users of motorized two-wheelers by writing to the ministers of transport and from the inside, MM. Dominique Perben and Nicolas Sarkozy.

In an official letter (see copy below), the mayor of Paris proposes "to organize a signature in the coming weeks with the biker associations which contributed to its drafting, by associating as much as possible the Police Headquarters and the State services".

The mayor of Paris relies in particular on the "public stance"of the Minister of Transport Dominique Perben"in favor of overtaking motorcycles between lines of cars, expressed during a meeting with the French Federation of Angry Bikers"(read).

"You have proposed to draw up a charter of good practices to authorize these overtaking under certain conditions without waiting for a modification of the Highway Code.", reminds the mayor of Paris to the Minister of Transport."The Parisian charter seems to me to be fully in line with this logic", concludes Bertrand Delanoë.

We are therefore actually witnessing a new communication operation from the mayor of Paris which, although sewn with white king size thread, should have its small media success.

As for its real impact, it should according to our estimates be at least as important as that of the promise made by one of the illustrious predecessors of Bertrand Delanoë as mayor of Paris, Jacques "noise and smell"Chirac himself, who assured in 1988 that he would bathe in the Seine in the year 2000…

Because in the meantime, while the rise of queues – a practice inherent to two-wheelers in the city – is almost impossible to verbalize on a daily basis, the abusive penalties for parking without hindrance or reasonable traffic in the bus lanes continue with more vigor….
