2018 Yamaha Tracer 900 and Tracer 900 GT: on the right tracks…
The Yamaha Tracer 900 continues its march towards success – 35,000 sales in three years! – with a second generation refined to improve comfort. This sporty road bike is now supported in 2018 by a more traveling version, the Tracer 900GT.
Well equipped, light (210 kg) and very dynamic thanks to its 3-cylinder 115 hp: the – called "MT-09 Tracer" when it was released at the end of 2014 – collects the assets necessary to shine. Yamaha does not change the situation for 2018, but improves the formidable balance achieved by this distant descendant of TDM.

The windshield is thus redesigned for better protection – and, hopefully, a simplified adjustment of its height. The very wide handlebars are closer to the pilot, while its prominent handguards in the "Goldorack" look are slightly thinned..
The rider – adjustable in height – and passenger saddles are redesigned to offer better reception, one of the rare faults of this 847 cc motorcycle. The passenger handles and footrests also undergo transformations aimed at improving the life on board of the guest. The pilot will appreciate the arrival of a plastic protection at the base of the 18-liter tank at the crotch level..

Technically, the 2018 Tracer 900 is identical to the previous model, except for a new extended swingarm that takes place at the end of its aluminum frame. Enough to improve its stability and traction, even if the standard traction control – adjustable and deactivatable – effectively takes care of this specific aspect..
Its aesthetics evolve slightly through a revamped front part around the LED optics, just like the fairing sides. On the practical side, it renews its very interesting endowment: 12V socket, anti-dribble clutch, adjustable maps, very complete monochrome dashboard, central stand and case racks are always included as standard..
In short, all the assets still seem to be in place to extend the success of this 2018 novelty, available in March – in black or gray – at a price still unknown (€ 10,499 in 2017), which is now supported by a new Tracer 900GT version. !
Yamaha Tracer 900GT
In 2018, the Tracer 900 is available in a version equipped for the long haul with, in particular, 22-liter removable cases as standard, as the late TDM900 had done before it. This Tracer 900GT is identical to the standard, both from a mechanical point of view (115 hp and 87.5 Nm delivered by the very vigorous 3-leg) and cycle part.
The only notable difference in terms of peripherals is the grafting of quality suspensions a notch higher, with fully adjustable fork and offset preload adjustment wheel for the mono-shock..
The Tracer 900GT also receives color TFT matrix instrumentation – visually very close to that of the R1 and MT-10SPP – which gives it a more high-end status..
Finally, this new Yamaha 2018 feature comes standard with the shifter that appeared on the latest generation of, a speed regulator and heated grips. It will be available in black, gray or blue from June 2018 at a price that remains to be discovered….
