Glanville 250 X and Saxby 250: Brixton launches in “ two-and-a-half ”
Since last year, Brixton has offered A1 and B licenses nice neo-retro motorcycles. Building on its success in 125 cc, the brand of the importer KSR Group plunges in 2019 into the "big" engine sector with two new models: Glanville 250 X and Saxby 250. Presentations.
The readers of Site – who, as everyone knows, are not only luckier than others but have also understood that running a newspaper costs money – know that the brand, which arrived in France in 2017, instantly knew success thanks to its small neo-retro 125 cc motorcycles, calibrated on the popular Seventy of .
Despite its strong accent, Brixton (name borrowed from the district of London where David Bowie was born) does not fly the British flag: like Mash, created from scratch – or almost, motorcycles being produced in China – by the Burgundy importer SIMA, Brixton is the brainchild of an Austrian importer, KSR Group.

“Three years after the premiere of Brixton Motorcycles at EICMA in Milan, the brand has become a bestseller in most of Europe in the 125 cc category,” said Austrian officials. "In addition, Brixtons are sold in many other countries around the world, for example Korea, Vietnam or Peru".
In France, the BX 125s (standard, R, X, Haycroft or Felsberg) totaled 670 registrations during their first year on the market. Far from the 1918 sales of Mash, but ahead of the main competitors: 570 Masai, 548 Bullit, 445 FB Mondial and 354 Orcal.
This year, the success of the small Brixton with young bikers (A1 license) or motorists (equivalent to B license) has not been denied: 753 units sold in France between January and September 2018. But the brand is now targeting A2 licenses. , via two new features for 2019.
Presented at the draft stage last year at the Eicma show in Milan, the Glanville 250 X (name borrowed from a small town in Normandy where the Haras du Quesnay is located) was exhibited a few days ago in Paris as well as ‘to Intermot – naturlich – in its final version.
"This is a completely redesigned model, with Koso LED indicators in the handlebars, Brixton designer LED headlights, LED tail light and side license plate holder for independent styling." To stand out more, the tank can receive inserts … in wood !
From a mechanical point of view, the Austrians assure that their motorcycle is "a model at the cutting edge of progress": single cylinder 250 cc injection of Japanese manufacture, adjustable rear shock absorbers, fork reversed "with springs mounted backwards for low unsprung masses" and ABS "from the entry level … because mandatory on all two-wheelers over 125 cc !
To believe the official Brixton website, this "quarter-liter" would bring "the same driving pleasure" as a 125, but "the extra ardor": for comparison, the 17.7 horses of the mono 250 are responsible for moving the 150 kg empty motorcycle, against 11.3 hp and 134 kg for the BX 125.
A neo-retro and a "real" classic
Expected for spring 2019 – precise date and price remain to be discovered -, the Glanville 250 X will be accompanied by a more classic sister in the eyes of its designers: the Saxby 250, launched "in order to meet the many demands of our customers", underlines the brand.
Because "as we all know, tastes are different", Brixton introduces. "While the modern lines of the Glanville 250 X immediately aroused enthusiasm for some, others regretted that there was no 250 in the design of the BX 125".
This is why their second 250 cc model "combines the classic design of the BX 125 with the 250 cc Glanville 250 X engine. With its LED daytime running lights, LED turn signals, digital speedometer and EFI (electronic fuel injection) , Editor’s note), it is of course just as technically modern as its angular sister ".
The Saxby 250 is more classic than the Glanville 250 X: traditional bellows fork, old-fashioned stainless steel mufflers, chrome mudguards. This "BX250" will be available in two colors: gold and orange or black and gray. More basic – therefore authentic? – than his sister, will the Saxby be a little cheaper? Stay connected !
