Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition 2017: first information

The new Kawasaki Z900 which will be presented at the EICMA in Milan (Italy) does not mean the scrapping of the Z1000: pending its probable future major overhaul, the "Zed" is available in a new Z1000 R edition to Euro4 standards and seriously improved in terms of peripherals.

The first modification made to this Z1000 R Edition is due to its black color with fluorescent touches on its 17-liter tank, its raised rear shell and its strange flattened optics. The 120 and 190 mm wide rims also adopt colored edging. This dark and discreetly flashy shade particularly highlights its aggressive "Sugomi" style, unchanged for 2017 (read in particular our).

The other notable change concerns the peripherals, seriously upgraded: the 310 mm discs now come from Brembo and are clamped by 4-piston M50 radial calipers from the same manufacturer, with aviat ‘hoses! Damping also improves at the rear with an Ohlins shock absorber with a practical offset preload adjustment dial. In addition to this equipment which should benefit the fairly dry damping of the "Zed", Kawasaki also indicates that it has adapted and – normally – improved the settings of the 41 mm fork, identical to that of the standard version.. 

On the engine side, the 1043 cc 4-cylinder undergoes the same types of modifications as those made to the 2017 Z1000SX – – in order to meet Euro4 standards without losing performance (142 hp and 111 Nm). Akashi’s Greens say they have installed a new electronic box that would soften the arrival of power. Finally, a gear indicator engaged and a shift-light take place on this Z1000 R Edition, as on the .

So many modifications intended to radicalize the Z1000 and better differentiate it from the, to be discovered at the beginning of November at the Milan show (Italy). It remains to be seen whether these two fairly similar motorcycles will coexist for a long time in the catalog or if a new more "beefy" Z1000 (Z1100?)
