Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition

With the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition, Royal Enfield had presented a new special model, which could be pre-ordered from July 2018 and was limited to 1,000 copies. The India contingent was sold out in less than 3 minutes.

The new special model from R.Oyal Enfield pays homage to a World War II motorcycle. It is based on the Royal Enfield WD 125 model, which some history buffs might know better under the term “Flying Flea” and which was used by the British during the war. Royal Enfield opted for a limited number of the so-called Classic 500 Pegasus Edition. There will be only 1,000 copies of the retro bike in the army look. 250 of them were on sale in India, and anyone who wanted one had to be quick because all 250 copies were sold just 178 seconds after the reservation was opened. Around 190 copies should make it to Great Britain. A few copies are also to be offered in Australia and the USA. The manufacturer has not yet revealed whether the special model will also come to Germany. 

Technically identical to the basic model

Technically, the Pegasus Edition is based on the Royal Enfield Classic 500. Accordingly, the special model and the basic version only differ in appearance. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition will be available in two colors: Service Brown and Olive Dab Green. Interestingly, the green “military” variant in India is expected to be banned from driving on public roads due to a law. It is quite possible that only the brown paintwork will be available in India.

The Pegasus is offered in two color variants.

Each of the 1,000 copies has its serial number printed on the tank in capital letters. Most of the other components, such as the exhaust system and the seat, are rather darker in color. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition can be pre-ordered from July 2018, at least in India. Converted there, it will cost around 5,700 euros.

The Pegasus is already the third special model that was presented by Royal Enfield this year: In January Royal Enfield announced a special version of the Himalayan with the so-called “Sleet”, followed in March by the special model Royal, which is intended exclusively for the Indian market Enfield Thunderbird X.
