The big stew is discontinued

At Royal Enfield the generation change is imminent. The classic 500 single cylinder will be discontinued. A final edition will follow in September 2020, which costs 6,141 euros in Germany – if you can get one.

D.he Royal Enfield models with the 499 cm³, air-cooled single-cylinder engines are considered classics. Their production history goes back to 1932. Time and again, the Indians managed to gently modernize the concept and keep it fresh. The retro boom of recent years also brought the Indians good sales figures.

Euro 5 kills 500 single

Now the 500 is facing its final end. In India and Asia, the similarly styled but more modern 350 models of the 500s are draining the water as they are cheaper to get and maintain. Those who want more power can choose the successful 650 twin-cylinder. In Europe, the 500 does not meet the upcoming Euro 5 standard. In India, most of the 500 variants from Royal Enfield’s range have already been dropped, in Europe, according to information from the DACH importer KSR, it should be finished in summer 2020. Service and spare parts for the 500cc engines will continue to be available across Royal Enfield’s European dealer network.
