Royal Enfield RE Concept KX

The bobber comes with a fat V2 as a meteor?

The Indian motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield presented a spectacular bobber study at EICMA 2018 with the RE Concept KX. Now the name Meteor has been protected.

Royal Enfield had revived its past at EICMA 2018 with the Concept KX and looked back to 1938. However, the study is just a finger exercise for the designer, a series model should not be derived from it, at least claims R.oyal Enfield officially.

V2 with 838 cm³

While the original relied on a 1,140 cm³ V2 with side steering, the new study comes with an 838 cm³ V2, which is fed by injection and should bring it to around 90 hp. The engine was developed together with Polaris, the parent company of Indian. The double-pipe exhaust system runs on the right. The front wheel is guided by a Hossack fork with a central spring strut, while the study mimics a rigid frame at the rear. A lone leather saddle with a seat height of 760 mm sits above the lying suspension strut, which is supported by a deflection. Shifting takes place via a six-speed gearbox, the final drive is via a chain. The rear wheel axle is guided in an eccentric.

The driver reaches into a wide tubular handlebar, the lighting is based on LED technology. The gear train is based on modern 19-inch cast rims with filigree Y-spokes. A double disc brake system at the front and a single disc at the rear, which are combined with ABS, are used for deceleration.

Production model as Royal Enfield Meteor

Royal Enfield did not provide any official information about a possible series production, but insiders want to know that the V2 will soon be launched in India and will later also be offered in other markets. The period is 2020 to 2021. Another indication of this can be that Royal Enfield has now protected the name Meteor. As early as the 1950s, the then British brand had a corresponding model in different versions at the start.
