A few hours before the 2007 Mondial closes, the dealers present in the second-hand area are showing their satisfaction: from the 50 cc to the Fat Boy, more than 700 models were offered for sale. And the scooters were present this time.

In a few hours, the 2007 Mondial du deux-Roues will close its doors until 2009. But the dealers present in the used area are already showing their satisfaction! From the small 50 cc to the Harley Davidson Fat Boy, more than 700 models were offered for sale, twice as many as in the first edition in 2005 (read in particular). And to be in tune with the market, scooters have naturally made a remarkable entry this year. !

In Hall 2.2, no less than 500 models were offered by the Tardieu group alone (West Bike dealerships, etc.). Laurent Athlan, salesman at the Second Hand Pole, member of the Tardieu group, claims to have sold: "around 170 vehicles. All models go, but what works best are scooters and recent used cars".

Another seller compares with the latest edition: "we are getting closer to 200 sales and the premium that goes with it! In 2005, we did not succeed".

Is the show competitive? Opinions are divided: for prices, no huge differences with the usual offers from dealers, but the advantage is elsewhere.

Thus François, 45, originally from Auvergne and living in Val-d’Oise, who made the trip with his friend, appreciates the variety of choices – "from trail to hypersport"- and the availability of sellers:"they are not too urgent, we can try, touch".

Jean, 49, from Marseille, just watches: "I don’t intend to buy, but it’s another way to dream before going to the manufacturers’ tour! I have my BMW 1200 because I do a lot of road riding, but for seaside trips this Fat Boy on sale at the Mondial would be ideal…"

For others, like Marcel, 58, the seller’s availability is not the show’s strong point: "he responds quickly to you, keeping an eye on another potential customer. I prefer to go to my dealership, it’s quieter !"

But for this Toulouse owner of a Honda CBF 1000, the second-hand space of the Mondial still has another interest: "the prices are interesting and above all, we can compare with the offers of the competitors who are next door. It helps to negotiate !"

The only insurer to have also entered the Hall of the occasion, AMV offers an immediate insurance package on site that allows you to leave with your motorcycle immediately after purchase. On its stand, at the heart of the second-hand area, the Bordeaux insurer regrets a drop in the number of visitors compared to 2005: "even if it’s not a bad year, the general drop in attendance gives average results", we estimate at AMV.

But the great novelty of this edition is the arrival in force of the scooter, much more discreet two years ago. Out of around thirty stands, four are exclusively dedicated to it. With the models sold by motorcycle dealers, we arrive at a quarter of the offers! A reflection of the current market which favors scooter and small displacement ?

Charenton Euro Nation, Piaggio dealer, is happy with its Mondial. For his first participation, he has around sixty sales, "mainly 125 but also some 500", explains the stand manager.

The most prominent models are the most innovative: the Gilera 500, judiciously displayed at the corner of two aisles, seems irresistibly to attract attention … and buttocks! Because security is on the rise, if visitors are to be believed: "imagine, no need to put your foot on the ground when stationary! On that you are quiet even when there is gravel", exclaims a visitor. Be careful though! (read in particular our)…

At RMS, Suzuki dealership in Orleans, however, we consider that the scooter phenomenon is limited to the Paris region: "we sold everything, but scooters it is especially at home that it works !", logically notes a stand manager.

Scooter or motorcycle, 50 or 1584 cc, utility or Superbike: it doesn’t matter! Once the decision has been made to buy a new frame, two possibilities are available to the purchaser: either pay in cash or by credit card and leave the same evening or the next morning with the vehicle, or take a loan on the show and come back to bring papers and supporting documents.
