San Marino GP - The San Marino GP in Misano expects up to 10,000 spectators per day -

Event this weekend at the San Marino Grand Prix in Misano (Italy): the public will finally be able to attend a MotoGP race, after five events behind closed doors due to the coronavirus. Thanks to strict dispensation and health protocols, up to 10,000 people per day will be able to sit in spaced places. Explanations.

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli can be proud of being the first of the "Covid era" to open its doors to the public for a MotoGP race, and this on two successive occasions since this circuit located close to Valentino Rossi hosts the this weekend then the unprecedented GP of Emilia-Romagna from September 18 to 20.

Thanks to a profound change in reception arrangements and long negotiations with the health and sports authorities, the Italian circuit is taking advantage of an exemption granted in mid-August by the Emilia-Romagna region to accommodate "up to 10,000 people per day ", ie twice the official tonnage currently in force in Italy and France for events open to the public.

Spectators will only be allowed to sit in the stands: access to the natural stands, the edges of the track and the paddock will be prohibited. No less than "700 people" will ensure strict compliance with these instructions as well as flow management to avoid contact.

"Each stand has dedicated services (sanitary facilities, restaurants) systematically disinfected", specify the organizers who have been in operation since the beginning of spring: the Italian circuit was the first in Europe to reopen its doors on May 14 for tests, followed by national auto and motorcycle events in the form of tests to validate its "Covid protocol".

Separate seats in the stands and limited access

To respect physical distancing, the seats open to the public in the 18 stands have been separated by at least one meter: the other seats are removed, reducing the total capacity accordingly. "About 25% of the seats will be occupied in the stands", estimate the Italian organizers, or about 10,000 places instead of the usual 40,000.

Between "real" stands and natural bleachers, Misano is approved for a total of around 110,000 spectators: nearly 160,000 people flocked there last year, cumulatively from Friday to Sunday. This year, only 30,000 people maximum will attend the show over the three days, or 60,000 in all over the two weekends..

"This decision represents a green light for the relaunch of world sport, again in front of its supporters", rejoice the organizers. "Our sincere thanks to the Emilia-Romagna Region and to President Bonaccini for having listened to and carefully evaluated our project".

This limited reception inevitably drives up the prices of tickets: seats are exchanged between 140 and 270 euros for the single day of Sunday and between 185 and 325 euros for Saturday and Sunday. The cost of the "passionate" of MotoGP, certainly !

And for the French GP ?

This exemption granted to the Italian "double meeting" naturally raises hopes for other races, in particular for the French Grand Prix at Le Mans (72) !

Despite the development of a "special Covid" health protocol, the tricolor event is to date limited – at best – to the tonnage of 5,000 people valid in France until the end of October … The authorization to double or no, this reception capacity is in the hands of the Sarthe prefecture, which must make its .
