Second hand advice Yamaha XJ 600 N / S
Second-hand all-rounder hit
One for everything and for every budget – the unobtrusive 600 with its robust row quad is an all-rounder hit from second hand with over 30,000 registrations.
For the 2009 season, the XJ6 and XJ6 Diversion introduce themselves as Yamaha‘s new representatives in the 600 middle class. There has been a five-year break since the previous nineties top sellers XJ 600 S Diversion and XJ 600 N in between. Although they have long since moved out of the limelight, the second-hand market cannot be imagined without them. Its recipe for success goes back to the original XJ 600 F model from the 1980s: solid, reliable technology, low acquisition and maintenance costs, suitability for touring. A package like this is popular yesterday as it is today, especially with pragmatically decisive motorcyclists. In any case, not only young beginners (because of the 34 HP throttle variant) and mature beginners (preferably with a luggage system) like to take advantage of it, but also everyday riders looking for a low-budget second motorcycle. Women also like to buy the Japanese because of its uncomplicated handling, smooth power delivery and comfortable seating position (especially if the Yamaha is very down-to-earth thanks to a lowering kit). Although the XJ 600 is now technically very old and only offers a few noteworthy visual stimuli, the likeable Yamaha was, is and remains an inexpensive all-rounder. And so it is still a very lively second-hand alternative to the two new XJ6 models for many.

Second-hand advice
Yamaha XJ 600 N / S
sightseeing
The conventionally constructed in-line four-cylinder is commonly regarded as. extremely reliable and can withstand mileages of more than 50,000 kilometers with regular maintenance. Wearing parts such as the rather narrow tires are inexpensive, so that a properly cared-for XJ 600 does not result in excessive follow-up costs. Rattling noises from the engine, which usually come from the timing chain, are typical. Experienced screwdrivers or specialist workshops readjust the timing chain tensioner and eliminate this harmless problem within a few minutes. Also not uncommon, at least with the Diversion: annoying rattling from the panel. Mostly it is due to loose ornamental grilles, which should be underlaid with vibration-damping foam rubber. Carburetor retrofit kits that have already been installed are worth gold as they significantly improve the cold running behavior, which is particularly bad in older models. If there is a dismantled throttle set as a bonus, it is essential to check whether it really fits the machine on offer. Promoting sales: a luggage system including a suitcase that makes the 600 fully suitable for travel.

Market situation
Even if you don’t look long, you will find. In particular, the extremely inexpensive XJ 600 around 1000 euros are rarely offered by dealers, but mostly privately. Commercial companies prefer to offer properly maintained machines for around 2000 euros, which are specifically intended to appeal to newcomers. Rather rare: first-hand, first-hand, well-kept cotton swabs, younger than the year of construction 2000, as these are mostly still in the possession of satisfied drivers. From this year of construction, new vehicle sales also fell significantly (between 1000 and 2000 units per year instead of 4000 to 5000 in the previous years). Over 30,000 XJ 600 N / S are approved in Germany. The model is still in great demand, but interest is gradually waning.
