Marc Fontan is launching a sector intended to "detect, train, supervise and develop" new talents in motorcycle speed: the Dark Dog Academy is starting this year in the French 600 Supersport Championship with Lucas de Carolis and David Perret.

"My objective is to find young talents and to make them work in order to develop them", explains Marc Fontan, team manager of the Dark Dog Academy officially launched this morning at Le Bourget on the sidelines of the Paris Moto Show: "there is no There is no reason for 19-year-olds to reach the highest level of world competition in Italy or Spain, but not in France! We also have two arms, two legs and a head! "

The two young talents 2006 are David Perret and Lucas de Carolis, respectively winner of the Coupe de France 600 Promosport 2005 and second in the 600 CBR French Cup championship.

David Perret, 21, is from Angers. Born on November 21, 1984, he made his competitive debut in 2003 and finished 5th in the Coupe de France Promosport in 125 then 2nd in 2004, before being crowned French champion in 600 Promosport last year..

As for Lucas de Carolis, 19, he is from Beziers. Born on January 22, 1987, he started competing in 2004 in the French 600 Promosport Championship, where he finished second almost tied with David a year later. Enrolled in the first year of Maths sup, he is also preparing a DUT in civil engineering! "Lucas is a friend in the paddock and he is always fair in the race", specifies David.

Both will compete in the French 600 Supersport Championship riding two Honda 600 CBRs with the support of the Dark Dog Academy which will provide them with "physical, technical and mental preparation (cross-country skiing in Thonon-les-Bains, gymnastics, swimming , archery, fencing, muscle building, endurance, relaxation, learning to live in a group) as well as "communication courses".

"Today, communication is indeed one of the essential components of the pilot’s profession", believes Marc Fontan: "of course it is above all about being a good pilot, but we must also teach young recruits how to wear the colors of the team, promote its partners and understand the media ".

David Perret and Lucas de Carolis will therefore follow an internship within the communication agency which makes reference in the motorcycle world, Circonference of Françoise Depierre, which will teach them "to place themselves in front of a camera or how to answer an interview".

"We call ourselves" Academy "because we must be in the movement of television and cinema, where we train young people to become talents in their field", specifies Marc Fontan: "they must know how to communicate and we have to follow them in the media outside the circuits, even when the season is over ".

The "Dark Dog Academicians" can also count on the support of their "big brother" – and nevertheless a competitor! – Frederic Moreira, who will give them the benefit of his "15 years of motorcycle racing experience".

"My only ambition is to bring young people to the highest level by saving them time in their careers" summarizes Marc Fontan, to whom we owe in particular the "discovery" of Regis Laconi, Olivier Jacque or Sebastien Scarnato through the federal speed branch "Equipe de France" in 1992.

"If the results are up to par, the best of them will also be able to participate in the final of the Mondial Supersport at Magny Cours", predicts the team manager. "The Dark Dog Academy is not a team but a sector: we do not sign multi-year contracts, the pilots are not paid, they pay for their trips and they will have to constantly evolve, because they will not be inevitably there next year "…

To raise a budget that he estimates at "250,000 euros all inclusive for the season including training courses", Marc Fontan called on Dark Dog and Balladins, already partners of the Moto Tour, and also benefits from the support of Honda, Tecmas , Pirelli, Motul, Shoei, Ixon, Afam, Moto Journal and FFM.

During 2006, the Dark Dog Academy will recruit young hopefuls among young pilots already evolving in competition, but also within the general public through poster campaigns, especially in service stations where we find them. .. the Dark Dog drink !

"A year to learn, a year to win!" Let us hope that this slogan of Marc Fontan at the time of the French team, which is verified for Regis Laconi and Olivier Jacque, will benefit this year to David Perret and Lucas de Carolis, while waiting to apply to all future French Rossi !
