Even with the kit control unit, wiring harness and exhaust system, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is transformed into a radical racing motorcycle with a greedy acceleration from the low revs. In addition, the blipper function is activated via the kit ECU, so it can also be downshifted without a clutch. Unfortunately, the kit parts are only available from selected Kawasaki dealers. The kit exhaust is however available directly from www.kawasaki.de.

The shock absorber works on the principle of the fork and also provides quick changes for small interventions.

The Balance Free fork offers a large adjustment range and reacts immediately to small setup changes. The feedback from the front is a real treat.

“When developing the new ZX-10R, we subordinated everything to the lap time,” explains Yoshimoto Matsuda, father of the current Ninja.

Set the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R correctly
Optimal use of the chassis and assistance systems
Content of
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R has immense potential for fast lap times. In order to use it, you have to work out the optimum from the various setting options on the chassis and electronics. PS man Tobias Munchinger explains how to do it.
Heart of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R is – apart from its powerful four-cylinder of course – a so-called Inertial Measurement Unit, for short "IMU", literally "Inertia measurement unit", usually translated as "Accelerometer".

Set the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R correctly
Optimal use of the chassis and assistance systems
Ninja ZX-10R three sensors measure the linear acceleration, two more the angular acceleration. All electronic systems, from ABS to wheelie control, work on the basis of IMU data. If you want to optimally tune your Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, you have to understand how the systems work and communicate with each other.
Kawasaki
If you want to exhaust the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, you have to optimally coordinate the chassis and electronics.
Using the Rijeka race track as an example, Tobias Munchinger demonstrates how to find the optimal settings for the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. In detail, he goes into:
- Adjustment of suspension and damping on fork and shock absorber
- Dealing with the ABS
- Setting the traction control
- Adjustment of the wheelie control
- Handling of the drag torque control KEBC ("Kawasaki Engine Brake Control")
- Use of the electronic race start KLCM ("Kawasaki Launch Control Mode")
- Automatic switch / quickshifter
His personal setup tip for a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R driven in dry conditions in Rijeka can be found in PS 1/2017.
As a special goodie, Tobias Munchinger compares his fresh setup experiences in Aragón in a track test with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, on which Jonathan Rea twice won the Superbike World Champion title. Without giving too much away: in addition to 240 hp to 165 kilograms and a lot of racing experience, even the most well-tuned production motorcycle will ideally be the second winner.
