Electric scooter with a clever battery system

The Silence S01 is a new electric scooter from a Spanish manufacturer that wants to draw attention to itself through innovative ideas. It will soon be available in Germany and cost just under 6,600 euros.

E.Electric scooters from new and still largely unknown manufacturers are not necessarily uncommon at the moment. And yet some manufacturers can still attract more attention than other competitors with innovative ideas. One of these candidates could be the Spanish manufacturer Silence Urban Ecomobility, which would like to score points with a clever battery system, among other things. The new system is used for the first time in the electric scooter called Silence S01.

Battery or trolley?

The highlight of the Silence S01 is the removable battery, which can be moved like a trolley. Annoying hauling should not be completely eliminated, but at least reduced. Similar to other electric scooters, the battery can be conveniently charged at the home socket. In addition, the so-called be Power Battery Pack can also be charged using solar energy. For this purpose, a specially developed photovoltaic panel in the form of a tree called “Solar be Tree” is to be completed soon. In addition, battery stations are to be opened in the near future, in which the discharged battery can be exchanged for a fully charged battery. The manufacturer does not reveal whether these stations will also be opened in Germany. In addition, like a power bank, the battery can also be used as an external energy source for other devices such as a notebook. This is made possible by an inverter that supplies 12 V and 24 V direct current as well as 220 V alternating current. The charger is integrated in the housing. The power cord can be conveniently wrapped and coiled. The Spanish manufacturer, which incidentally has its headquarters in Barcelona, does not seem to be lacking in good ideas.

The removable battery is reminiscent of a trolley when it is removed.

The battery, which has a capacity of 5 kWh and weighs 30 kilograms, should enable a range of up to 115 kilometers. Incidentally, the scooter weighs 105 kilograms without the battery. A smartphone holder is standard on board. Speaking of smartphones: the scooter is started using a smartphone app, which is available for iOS and Android devices. In addition, Silence has thought of some other nice features. Thanks to a code, the scooter can also be unlocked for other people. For example, if a friend wants to ride the scooter, this can be made possible with the help of the code and the smartphone app. The scooter can also be located thanks to the smartphone app. The seat compartment is also opened, navigated and maintenance coordinated via smartphone commands. In the event of theft or fall, the owner receives a notification. There is space for two jet helmets in the helmet compartment, which has a switch for unlocking the battery. LED lighting and a digital speedometer are also on board.

Reverse gear also on board

Silence Urban Ecomobility equips the S01 with a combined CBS braking system. If the driver brakes with the left brake, both wheels are locked. When the right lever is operated, the front wheel is braked and a regenerative process begins that supports the braking process and simultaneously charges the battery. Interestingly, the Spanish manufacturer has also given its scooter a reverse gear, which should make maneuvering easier.

The so-called “Solar be Tree” is currently still in the final development.

Pilots can choose between three different driving modes. The sport mode offers the highest possible performance and a stronger regeneration of energy when braking. The city mode was developed for driving in city traffic and is characterized by good performance with balanced consumption. Last but not least, there is also an eco mode available, in which the top speed is reduced to 45 km / h. Incidentally, the Silence S01 is the first electric scooter from the Spanish manufacturer that is also being delivered to private customers. In Germany, the Silence electric scooter will cost just under 6,600 euros. When exactly it will be available in this country is still unclear. In all likelihood, however, it should be ready this year. Finally, we would like to refer to a report by our colleagues from the US magazine Electrek, who allegedly operated the Silence battery in continuous commercial use and tested it over a distance of 40,000 kilometers. According to Electrek, the battery should still have used 97 percent of its original performance after 40,000 kilometers, which would be quite a number in terms of durability.
