Not an isolated case. Drag races with two-stroke skidoos are quite common – in the USA.

It’s the old problem: the old snowmobile is standing around, too good to dispose of. Solution: Convert to a drag racer. Location: The USA, of course, in Wisconsin. The man with the solution is Brian Lamb and the supposed disposal is not to be taken very seriously.

Snowmobile from Hell

Brian’s Ski-Doo Mach Z800 from 1999 gets a comprehensive technical overtaking, which of course starts with the triple with its 809 cubic meters. The series already gets a good 148 hp from its 3 two-stroke cylinders, not enough for a powerful drag race vehicle. First step: replace the standard carburettors with a 38 mm bore for those with 40.5 millimeters. Next step: 112 octane racing gasoline. Still not enough? Okay: nitro injection with a 60 hp boost. Achievement: Brian’s Secret. But it is at least 208 hp at its peak. Two-stroke horsepower. A device of hell!

Hayabusa has a hard time

Recently on the Byron Dragway in Illinois. A Hayabusa with a long swingarm competes against the yellow beast with the oily exhaust plumes. There is no arrogance on the Hayabusa, because anyone who is a little informed about drag racing knows what the ski-doos are capable of. But at this point in time, there is no way of knowing what times Brian will burn in sticky asphalt with his Z800. The two-stroke engine hammered out the important start time of the first 18 meters in 1.51 seconds, and 200 meters fell after 6.63 seconds at a speed of 155 km / h. Not bad for a 22 year old snowmobile. The Hayabusa is within striking distance, but behind it.

Conclusion

Oh madness, tell me your name! US Drag Race. Anyone who likes bizarre technology at the highest level and slightly weird souls has come to the right place. By the way: You shouldn’t stop on foot on the US railways. The shoes are stuck there. No joke.
