Speeders caught unconventionally
Police take “lap times”
After unauthorized motorcycle races on public roads, the Aachen police seized two motorcycles and the driving licenses of two motorcyclists.

On Saturday (September 23rd, 2019) the police had been on the lookout for racers on the twelve-kilometer “little Eifel circuit” known to motorcyclists. The officers followed the events quite unconventionally.
Lap times stopped
The “small Eifel circuit” is exactly twelve kilometers long and goes back to the starting point via Kesternich and Rurberg. The normal lap time is a little over eleven minutes, provided that the prescribed maximum speeds are observed and no other traffic. This results in an average speed of around 63 km / h.
A 60-year-old motorcyclist from Eschweiler drove a lap with seven minutes and 31 seconds, which corresponds to an average speed of over 95 km / h, and completed a second lap with a calculated average speed of over 102 km / h. On another lap he overtook another motorcycle with Geilenkirchen license plates, which was also being measured. When both motorcycles were to be stopped, the Geilenkirchen motorcycle sped past the uniformed officers. The driver’s license plate number and description are on record. The 60-year-old, however, could be stopped safely.
Driver unapologetic
In an interview, the 60-year-old stated that he had not driven a race. Especially not against the pilot of the Geilenkirchen motorcycle. Incidentally, he would “only choose a motorcycle of the same value and not an inferior one like this other machine that doesn’t stand a chance against its 200 hp anyway …”. His machine as a so-called confiscation item and his driver’s license were seized.
This is exactly what happened to a 33-year-old motorcyclist from Eijsden-Margraten (Netherlands). He is accused of having driven two laps at over 95 km / h and almost 90 km / h. His motorcycle and his driver’s license were also seized.
The motorcycles were towed on the spot. The officers took photos and video recordings to secure evidence. The motorcyclists are accused of gross and reckless behavior.
