Glenn Irwin, sad winner of a bereaved 2017 Macau Moto GP…
The 51st edition of the Macau Motorcycle GP was unfortunately mourned by the fatal accident of British rider Daniel Hegarty, 31, during the sixth lap of this famous race, contested on the urban circuit of Guia (China). Glenn Irwin is declared the winner on his Ducati Panigale 1199RS.
Glenn Irwin kept his promises during the 2017 Macau GP, a motorcycle race contested on a 6.120 km circuit in the city center of this Chinese province. Among its peculiarities, let us quote in particular the dreaded narrowness of this "track" lined with metal rails … Terrifying, especially as the 12-lap race is contested in a pack like at the North West, and not one by one like at the Tourist Trophy !

The Northern Irishman – domineering then author of a – took the lead as soon as the lights went out on his 1199RS, ahead of Peter Hickman’s BMW S1000RR. The Briton, of whom it was the second appearance in Macau, unfortunately died during his transfer to the hospital. He was 31 years old and a ten year old son … Stopped after the accident, the race did not resume: Glenn Irwin, with tears in his eyes, is declared the winner with 1.312 seconds ahead of Hickamn and 8.676 sec on Rutter. Martin Jessopp places his S1000RR in 4th place ahead of Conor Cumins’ CBR1000RR.
