Sport - Pascal Di Marco moves to CM2! -

Pascal Di Marco successfully passed the test of his first competition this weekend in Ledenon while Benoît Lacoste, unqualified due to a lack of engine power, is preparing his revenge for the 2nd round at the end of May in Carole. Emotions !

"We did it … We did it! We did it !!!" … It is on this strange war cry that they separated yesterday at 5:00 am, in a cold suburb Parisian, three big dadais aged 30, exhausted but happy, amazed like three kids who would come to realize that their life is what they make of it.

On closer inspection, the "feat" achieved is in reality only very modest. But what does it matter: on the return from the Circuit de Ledenon, the setting this weekend for the first round of the Challenge des Monos (CM2) 2004 (read) and, at the same time, the first competition contested by Team Moto-Net ( read and du), it seemed particularly satisfying !

After two days of free practice under the fleet, riding "like a soft endive" on a "crazy circuit" with many blind turns (read), Pascal "Tchoub" Di Marco managed to qualify the Moto-Net Mobile n ° 95 (Yamaha SZR) in 1’56.170, 20 seconds behind the leader Olivier Desjours certainly, but improving his first official time by more than a second !

And not content with having qualified, thus largely fulfilling Team Moto-Net’s third objective (after the organization and preparation of the motorcycles), Pascal even placed the MNM n ° 95 in 30th place out of 40 on the line of finish, with a fastest lap of 1’52.979.

Big rise of emotion on either side of the concrete wall, between the track and the pits, when Pascal lines up on the grid a few seconds before the start … "When I found myself in place on the grid after the training lap, all my stress disappeared suddenly, ”explains Pascal. "I realized it was really me, there, on my bike, in the middle of real riders. Like in my childhood dreams … So I said to myself: go for it! It’s so good! And I drove "…

In front, the fighter planes are also rolling. Untouchables, magical limits. Olivier Desjours (Honda RSF, fastest lap in 1’36.689), Jean-Charles Gauchot (Vertemati MO, 1’37.326) and Yannick Darre (Honda RSF, 1’40.323) grab the podium ahead of Alain Darre (MP650, 1 ‘ 41.908) and Manu Pintor, imperial, first in the Stock category on his Yamaha SZR (1’43.049).

In the paddock, Benoît "Benito" Lacoste regrets not having gone around for MNM n ° 25 (MuZ Skorpion) earlier on exiting the curve during qualifying: "I think I could easily have won the two seconds that I missed "…

Easier said than done on a motorcycle hastily reassembled Wednesday afternoon, just a few minutes before attaching it to the southbound trailer, which had never been driven and whose power curve (30 horses instead of the 45 authorized in Monosport) must still make the mechanic of the bench at Ledenon laugh, happy to show his friends this piece of bravery: "hey guys, come and see the Alps!"

"But beware, Carole I will be ready and there, it will bleed!", Warns Benoît while Pascal, his eyes still shining, also increases the pressure…

Who, of the two of us, speeds the other? Answer during the second round of CM2, May 22 and 23 on the Circuit Carole … We are counting on you to come and support the two MNM’s! In the meantime, well done to the organizers of the Challenge des Monos, a superb race with a human face, and thank you to the other competitors for their welcome, their help and their particularly valuable advice for "new comers" !
