The Suzuka 8 Hours podium was entirely taken over by Honda this year: first place went to the CBR n ° 634 of the MuSashi Harc Pro team led by Ryuichi Kiyonari, Takaaki Nakagami and Takumi Takahashi ahead of two other Honda considered as the favorites, the Keihin Kohara of Shinichi Itoh and Makoto Tamada and the FCC TSR of Kosuke Akiyoshi, Jonathan Rea and Yuki Takahashi.

The Keihin Kohara had a smooth race staying in the top 3, which is far from the case of the FCC TSR which has come a long way…

Early in the race, Kosuke Akiyoshi doubled twice under the yellow flag, earning him two stop and go penalties, before Jonathan Rea fell. The team was then 42nd with four laps behind before making an incredible comeback, knife between teeth….

The suspense and twists dear to endurance were thus there! Favorite after his pole position, the Yoshimura Suzuki with Eneos of Daisaku Sakai, Nobuatsu Aoki and Yukio Kagayama finished 6th, paying the price for two runs off the track.

The current leader of the endurance world championship, the Bolliger Switzerland team, is the best placed at the finish (9th) among the teams registered throughout the season. The Swiss Kawasaki team thus increases their lead to ten points over the Yamaha Austria Racing Team, which finished 16th after a race marked by two falls by Gwen Giabbani.

On the side of the Yamaha France GMT 94 Ipone, the race was again cut short … Christophe Guyot’s team had to retire shortly before the race time following a valve breakage.

Next round of the world endurance championship: the Bol d’Or on September 11 and 12 at Magny-Cours. Stay connected !
