Suzuki’s big trail benefits from a major overhaul. Not only stylistic but also technical. The new V-Strom is instantly recognizable with its face less tortured, more square and its enriched equipment. A higher screen, hand guards and shoe as standard, the adoption of the Bosch multi-axis inertial unit, progressive ABS when cornering, Easy Start and Low RPM Assist – everything is detailed in the sheet of the standard 1000 V-Strom.
This development, motivated in part by a necessary compatibility with Euro4, is coupled with a more adventurous version, the XT. More typical especially; there is still nothing to do with the crossing. The difference mainly comes from the adoption of spoke rims.
That’s all ?!? Yes, but with it, the 1000 V-Strom XT looks good. Just a little more, but what it takes to give her the stature to which she is entitled. However, even if it means offering the same bike in two versions, why not offer more claims to this one? How about an aluminum belly pan, raised suspensions and crankcase guards?!? Maybe another time…
Until then, it’s up to you to enjoy an enthusiastic 1037 cm3 twin-cylinder, a lively and playful chassis, a good price and the qualities of this trail-GT. Not yet enough to compete with the masters of the segment but a real alternative.
Regarding the electronics of the 1000 V-Strom:
– The left stalk is fitted with a control button to navigate in the dashboard information and adjust the traction control.
– Suzuki has added Bosch IMU 5-axis inertial control unit, in order to offer ABS optimization when cornering. The manufacturer calls it the Motion Track Brake System. In addition, the braking is now coupled.
– Low RPM Assist, facilitates takeoff by increasing the engine speed when releasing the clutch.
– Easy Start – After a simple push on the start button, the system continues on its own until the engine starts.
