It’s a beautiful sunny August morning, the thermometer is showing a shy 19 ° C and the day promises to be hot, and this morning I want to travel the asphalt with my trusty steed.
I take my mount out of the garage, I grab the equipment and switch on, the engine shakes gently, I let the machine warm up while I get equipped.
By the way, I’m missing all my homework, I haven’t introduced you to the young lady who will accompany me on this walk. It’s a Suzuki GSX 750 Inazuma, it has shared my life as a biker for a year and a little over 10,000 kilometers, but let’s go into a little more detail: on the engine side we end up with a four-cylinder 750 cm3 developing 85 HP air-cooled oil from the older generations of GSX-R, the frame is a double tubular steel cradle and the whole is braked by a double 300mm front disc with two-piston caliper and a single 240-disc two-piston caliper for the rear, the whole representing a weight of 222kg all full made on the scale.
But back to our sheep or rather to our motorcycles; the biker is now equipped so let’s go. The driving position is pleasant, the saddle very comfortable for both the driver and the passenger, the controls are well placed, on the other hand a slightly wider handlebars would not have been superfluous. We drive quietly just to get the mechanics and me ready. Anyway, we are in a built-up area, this short urban journey allows me to judge the beast’s ability to extricate itself from the lines of wheeled boxes. First observation, the weight of the machine is clearly felt when maneuvering at a standstill or at low speed. Once launched, the weight is forgotten and the bike shows great stability (thank you for the 120/60/17 and 170/60/17 pneumatic mounting). That’s it, we are leaving the town and heading for a small twisty road in the marshes, but first, obligatory passage via the four-lane road, this will allow us to see what the boiler gives. From 0 to 4000rpm, the engine is hollow, not to say anemic. From 4000 to 6000tr, it wakes up to give everything it has from 6000 to 11000tr (red zone at 11500 and breaker at 12500). Do not expect a thunderbolt, we do not play in the same yard as the Hornets and other FZ6s, rather in that of the bandit, but the sympathetic extension of the mill already gives you a good feeling. On curves the bike is stable, the fork and the rear assemblies are of good quality and erase the imperfections of the coating, but its 220 kilos will remind you quickly to order during tight sequences. Braking is very correct, easy to dose and progressive.
This bike can take you far, it is certainly less turbulent than its sisters but offers you comfort at the height of its big sisters (1300 CB, 1300XJR, 1400 GSX). In addition, it does not consume much fuel (about 6.5 liters per hundred) and consumable. I just would have liked a slightly more virulent engine and a standard rear tire (the original fitment is very expensive, count 160 euros per tire).
