Adrenaline rush, the nasty roadsters have taken over. With chassis and engines borrowed from the most radical sports, these machines are not in the lace. But for some time now, things have been moving. With its MT-125, Yamaha has offered something far more tantalizing than its YBR. KTM has caused emotions with its Duke 125. The Tuono 125 is back. And Suzuki intends to establish its presence in this niche. Especially since it has a strong new name in stock: GSX-S. The 1000 has recently tipped Suz ‘into the dark side of big streetfighters, the 750 arrives to bite into the juicy mid-displacement market, the 125 GSX-S now completes the offer for the 1 / 8th of a liter.
To design this small strike, the manufacturer started with the GSX-R 125. We keep the frame, peripherals and mechanics then we adapt the trim. And that’s where the first surprise comes in. With such a name, one would expect a miniature GSX-S 750. Well not at all. The GSX-S 125 has its own identity, hooked in the hoof, edgy in the shoulders and intriguing in the blow of the face. Opinions can be divided as to this facies, globular and chubby.
In its square steel tube frame, Suzuki installed the mini-sports car’s 124.4 cm3 block. Equipped with a 32 mm injection, double ACT, 4 valves and liquid cooling, this mono intends to deliver its power of 15 legal hp with leading acceleration performance. The overall weight of the bike should help him with the exercise. The GSX-S 125 weighs 133 kilos at weighing, or 5 units more than the graciles 125 Duke and CBF 125 but 5 less than the MT-125.
Petal brake discs, 10 spoke wheels, ABS and digital dashboard are also taken from the GSX-R. On the other hand, Suzuki has not transposed its keyless starting system. Pity.
