Suzuki M 1500 INTRUDER 2010

Being wiser than your big brother doesn’t mean you can’t have the same look. Probably that’s what the M 1500 R Intruder thought. Visually, it is almost impossible to differentiate it from the 1800. Futuristic silhouette, inverted fork, large liquid twin, equivalent consequent weight. You really have to come up and take a look at the datasheet to rule out the similarities…. and understand how Suzuki made this big cruiser so much more affordable. To post a lower price of 3,000 euros, we started by modifying the braking system: no more radial calipers with 4 pistons or coupled brake but classic clamps with 2 pistons. The radiator scoops are no longer there. But for the essentials of the look, from the stunning front rim to the triangular LED light at the rear, this M 1500 has plenty to catch a glance at every break on the terrace. The rear gommard lost 40mm in width (it’s a 200 on the 1500) and that’s no worse. What you lose in looks, you gain in handling. Of course, taking a beast over 300 kg with a wagon wheelbase in the virolo is nothing like a supermot’s agility; but that’s easier than with the big 1800 Intruder.

What is left in 1800 if his brother steals everything? Muscle! There’s not just 321cc of difference between the twin cylinders. It’s also a 45 horsepower difference. While it has the face of a power cruiser, the 1500 cannot compete with this segment. The couple is also less potent, but it still has more than 12 mkg at a much lower revs than that of the 1800. Enough to offer good acceleration and copious times..
The driver is well installed on this 1500, with arms hugging the wind with as much passion as a parachute. An anti-high speed that will proclaim you at cruising speeds, i.e. 100-110 km / h, the preferred tempo for customs. This leaves a little time for the spectators to appreciate the vision of this rather atypical machine in its niche..
