Family completely

For the 2017 model year, Suzuki is expanding its travel enduro family to include the V-Strom 1000 XT with wire-spoke wheels and more off-road demands. The other family members experience slight overwork.

S.uzuki would like to emancipate its all-round tourer with enduro ergonomics from a pure street motorcycle to a gravel tourer. On the one hand, the product videos clearly point in this direction during the presentation; on the other hand, the paintwork leans in "Champion Yellow No. 2" clearly resembles the brand cross and enduro models.

The new variant Suzuki V-Strom 1000 XT is on wire-spoke wheels and tubeless tires. Its traction control, which can be adjusted and switched off in two stages, is intended to make driving more relaxed and safer, even on loose surfaces. For better control at low speeds, the models have a "Low RPM Assist": It should prevent the large V2 engine from stalling and also increase comfort in stop-and-go traffic.

A servo clutch (SCAS = Suzuki Clutch Assist System) should help avoid a slipping or punching rear wheel when shifting down quickly. Another effect of this system is to reduce the manual force required to operate the clutch.

Both the basic Suzuki V-Strom 1000 and the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 XT have a fully adjustable upside-down fork and central spring strut; 160 mm suspension travel is available at the front and rear.

The incline of the windshield can be adjusted three times by hand; to change the height, four screws must be loosened. Hand protectors and engine cladding are standard equipment on both thousands. For both models, Suzuki gives 74 kW (100 hp) at 8000 rpm nominal power; the maximum torque is 103 Nm at 4000 rpm. With an empty weight (driving value) of 228 kg, Suzuki allows an impressive 212 kg payload; the gross vehicle weight of the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is 440 kg.

The 650 versions of the Enduro have a slight increase in output for the new model year: 52 kW (71 hp) at 8800 rpm are specified. They too benefit from the adjustable disc, traction control and Low RPM Assist of the big sisters. Fully adjustable chassis, hand protectors and servo coupling are reserved for the 1000s; the permitted payload is 200 kg.
