“Go for it, tumble down, gas full blast, yaouhou !!!!” Here are the first ecstasies after unleashing the fury of the 4-cylinder armored horse.
“Brake, dive, turn … Oh damn it! How it works this machine. Get out your fingers or you end up in the pile!”. This is the kind of lesson the GSX-R 1000 R inflicts on us when we start tickling it.. Because this hypersport is waiting for sparks to ignite the neurons, tear off pieces of curve and make the gommards suffer.
Precisely, it is one of the modifications of the optimization of the Gex 1000 since 2019. The Bridgestone RS10, almost re-cut slick, are replaced by the latest version RS11.
More specific to the R, seasoned trackers will now be able to adjust the height of the swingarm pivot point. Suzuki has installed a special plate for this purpose. A rare configuration possibility, most of the time only available on pure competition wheels or Italian sulphurous. The GSX-R 1000 R improves its braking with the adoption of aviation hoses (not too early).
A small gesture ‘lightens’ the vision on the exhaust. A black finish complemented by an angular skid plate gives the illusion that the muffler has slimmed down.
In short, Suz has refined her sportswoman sparingly. Almost logical given the level of performance, but we would have appreciated something more demonstrative.
However …. You want some demonstrative? Switch on the ignition and open hard. The step back is absent subscribers on this ball of nerves. After having taken a long time to catch up with seasoned competition, the GSX-R 1000 has finally returned to the top of the fight with many improvements and an engine capable of setting the times in orbit..
In addition to its revised silhouette and yet faithful to the spirit of the house, the sporty Suz has offered a new engine – with variable intake ACT timing – whipping no less than 202 horsepower and a good 12 mkg, one part – more efficient cycle, and lots of electronics. Its all-digital dashboard is just the tip of the iceberg. It only adopted S-DMS and ABS. Now there is a traction control with 10 levels of settings, a ride-by-wire accelerator, a 6-direction inertial unit working on 3 axes, the evolution of the ABS which becomes active, the Easy Start System and Low RPM Assist.
This range is only really completed with this R version of the GSX-R 1000. An R to define a more complete pack, more performance oriented. What does she offer ?
Let us stay in the field of electronics. The Suzuki GSX-R 1000 R is equipped with an Up & Down shifter, which cuts the engine load for 50 to 75 milliseconds, the time to upshift or downshift. A Launch Control System is also installed, to optimize stopped starts. Equipment already present in some competitors such as the Aprilia RSV4-RR, Ducati 1299 and MV-Agusta F4 – well, only Italians.
Suzuki doesn’t define this extra R just by these electronic treats. The GSX-R 1000 R is also distinguished by its inverted cartridge fork from Showa, the BFF. Superb, it improves braking stability, offers more comfort on the road, and gives more sensations and information on the track. To complete it, there is a damper signed Showa also, the BFRC Lite. An element offering better traction and increased sensitivity.
Two more sporty elements, which can also be found on a certain Kawasaki ZX-10R std.
Finally, the GSX-R 1000 R benefits from a lighter battery, LED position lights and a black background for its LCD screen. Surprisingly, this improved GSX-R is a kilo heavier than its sister, 203 kgs.
Even more devoted to efficiency, the GSX-R 1000 R brings a few advantages over the standard. The Hamamatsu brand remains faithful to its contained pricing policy by offering an improved GSX-R for a slate in orbit of 20,000 euros. The other ‘premium’ Japanese are much further in space.
A racing R, not to be confused with a high standing edition. Remember the GSX-R 750 Limited Edition, RR and SP-R. Is this GSX-R 1000 R the offspring? Only the circuit can really judge. But whether on the road or on the track, this machine is quite simply demonic, addictive and of a very high level of efficiency. Our essay stuck our eyes to the back of our heads.
