Taiwan 125 from the kit

Sanyang, or SYM for short, presented two new 125cc models at INTERMOT in Cologne. The SYM-NH X comes as a crossover bike with street orientation, the SYM-NH T as an adventure bike. Both share the same technique.

Anyone looking for inexpensive models in the 125cc bike field can hardly ignore the offers from the Taiwanese manufacturer Sanyang. The SYM-NH X and SYM-NH T models, which are now being presented in Cologne, are expected to hit the German market at the beginning of 2019. However, prices have not yet been announced.

Air-cooled to just over 10 hp

Both models are very similar. No wonder, since they share all of the technology. The differentiation is only made through modified add-on parts.

The core of the drive is an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with two-valve technology, which presses just over 10 hp from 124 cm³ at 8,500 tours. The torque peaks at 9.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Shifting takes place via a five-speed gearbox, the rear-wheel drive takes place via a chain.

The chassis is based on a steel tubular network. A 36 mm telescopic fork springs and guides at the front, while the rear swing arm is supported by a central spring strut. ABS is not available, but the braking system relies on a combined design.

Crossover and Adventure

The NH X crossover bike has 17-inch cast rims on the front and rear with 110/70 and 130/70 tires. In front of the tubular handlebars there is a layered double headlight. The two-man bench with a seat height of 787 mm stretches its end together with the rear light boldly upwards, the license plate and reflector sit on a swing arm.

The T-model is reminiscent of the legendary Suzuki DR Big.

The NH T variant is different. Wire-spoke wheels with a diameter of 19 and 17 inches with tires in the dimensions 100 / 90-19 and 130 / 80-17 turn here. A frame-mounted front fairing in the style of the legendary Suzuki DR Big houses the headlights. The tubular handlebar rises higher, the bench (seat height: 818 mm) ends in sturdy handles and a rear apron on which the license plate hangs in the classic way. The digital cockpit with USB port is common to both models, as is the 10.3 liter tank and the 222 mm brake disc in the rear wheel. At the front, the T relies on a 288 disc, the X must have a 260 disc.
