Tamburini T12 Massimo (2018)

A million dollar supersport grenade

The Tamburini T12 Massimo was created for one reason: to get the most out of the racetrack. It was created as an appreciation for the motorcycle icon Massimo Tamburini, who died in 2014, and is also the last project he started.

M.assimo Tamburini died on April 6, 2014. Before his death, he was still working on one last motorcycle, which has now been finalized. The so-called Tamburini T12 Massimo was completed by his son and other family members after the death of the Italian motorcycle legend – Tamburini developed the Ducati 916 and the MV Agusta F3 and F4 and it stands for the TA in Bimota. Development on the extremely sporty motorcycle, which was designed exclusively for use on the racetrack, began as early as 2012. A homologation for the road was not planned.

Only 12 copies worldwide

The engine of the Tamburini T12 Massimo is based on a BMW S 1000 RR from the Superbike World Championship. The engine’s output is correspondingly higher than that of the production model. The tuned engine should be able to provide 230 hp. In return, the weight was reduced to 154 kilograms due to the finest components.

There will be 12 copies of the T12 Massimo. Each copy costs $ 1 million.

Many of the components used are also used in MotoGP. The spring elements from Ohlins or the braking system from Brembo, for example, are correspondingly elegant. The magnesium-made Marchesini wheels were soled with Pirelli racing tires, which are also used in the Superbike World Championship. The frame was made of carbon. The 4-in-1 titanium exhaust is from Arrow. By the way, the T12 Massimo was built in the Tamburini factory in San Marino.

The whole thing had its price, however. For each of the total of 12 copies whose production is now starting, the makers are asking for a whopping 1 million US dollars. In 2016, when the first prototype was presented, they spoke of around 300,000 euros. Thus, the Tamburini T12 Massimo should only in the rarest of cases ever touch the racing track. Like many other exclusive bikes in this price range, your fate as a showcase motorcycle is blooming. It’s a shame actually …
