Suzuki V-Strom 650 conforms to Euro5, V-Strom 1050 entrusted to A2 permits
Three years after its Euro4 redesign, the V-Strom 650 is content with a simple Euro5 update to remain in the Suzuki catalog. The trails page is also expanding with two "new" models: the V-Strom 1050 and its XT variation, clamped for A2 licenses !
Launched in 2004, the V-Strom 650 had cleverly evolved in 2017, taking advantage of the transition from its 645 cc twin to the Euro4 standard to adopt traction control like the 1000, and squarely steal from the latter its rear loop, its instrumentation, its lines … In a word, strengthen ties with his big sister.
For 2021 on the other hand, the "small" V-Strom does not copy the 1050 which appeared in 2020: the "six-and-a-half" does not pass the Katana and DR square fire, does not receive a color TFT screen or Bluetooth connection, does not take advantage of a bubble – easily – adjustable while riding…

The work of Hamamatsu engineers on the 2021 V-Strom 650 was limited to the engine which retains the same maximum values (71 horsepower and 62 newton-meters to move the 213 kg machine all full, always) but now respects the Euro5 standard, consuming an average of 4.2 l / 100km and emitting 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer.
What changes have been made to the V-Twin? Will this engine be used in a "new" SV650? Does the V-Strom 650 absolutely not change, by the way? Why not duplicate the look of the V-Strom 1050: a question of cost or taste? At MNC, questions are flowing. We are waiting for Suz ‘return…
Suzuki France, on the other hand, informs our readers – its future customers ?! – that the 2021 V-Strom 650 will be available from mid-January in three colors ("Oort" Gray, "Pearl" White, or "Candy" Red) at the single price of 8,649 euros. Count 600 euros more for the XT available in four tones (Yellow "Champion", gray "Oort", Pearl White ", or Candy Red and Black" Spakle ").
Naturally, the V-Strom 650 "standard" and XT remain accessible to A2 licenses, young and old alike, since as a reminder, all new holders of the "big cubes" license must wait two years (with or without riding a motorcycle!) Before to access motorcycles of "strong powers".
Start the bike on a V-Strom 650 … or 1050 !
In 2021, moreover, Suzuki is aimed at bikers who wish to start on large motorcycles directly: like its great rival Africa Twin 1100, the recent V-Strom 1050 will be offered from the end of January in a version bridled castrated at 35 kilowatts or 47.5 horsepower.
After two years of seniority and the compulsory 7-hour training to obtain the "A tout court" license, owners of V-Strom 1050 "A2" (standard or XT, always at your choice!) Will then be able to unleash their machine and access the maximum 95 hp of their "beginners" model … but never the 107 hp of the "Full" models.
Identical in all points – mechanical, electronic, plastic … -, the two engine configurations of the V-Strom 1050 are distinguished physically and only by their colors and graphics … So be careful, especially during future sales between individuals, acquire the desired version, clampable or not !
Suzuki offers on the one hand, three sober paints for the "Full" standard and three more punchy or classy decorations for the "Full" XT, and on the other two elegant colors for the A2 standard and no less than four adornments for the XT "A2".
Last difference between the A2 and the Full: the price, which increases by 300 euros for the version intended for youth new bikers, better off than the old ones !? Allow 12,999 euros for the V-Strom 1050 (13,299 in A2) and 14,599 euros for the XT (14,899 in A2).
In order to encourage customers to fall for a "big" V-Strom A2, the French subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer announces that "until December 31, 2020, an Arai Tour X4" Suzuki signature "helmet worth 799 euros will be offered to, subject to firm purchase "… of course.
