England is full of suburbs, stars and stories. That of the Thruxton began in 1969, on the circuit that gave its name to this model … many years later.
That year, better known for having seen man set foot on the moon, three Bonnevilles monopolized the podium of the 500 miles of Thruxton, this former military airport closed after the World Second. On the Thruxton, a lightened crankshaft, a specific air box and greater compression allows the bi to go from 10.7 to 11.4 mkg of torque. Finally a real big muscle for this racy machine. Admittedly, the maximum torque is perched higher than on the Bonneville, at 4950 rpm. But let’s remember the spectacular gain over the previous 900 Thruxton: 62% more force. More torque and also significantly more powerful. From 80 horsepower on the Bonnie, the twin is building up serious pressure and spitting out 97 horsepower. The Thuxton accusing twenty kilos less, the weight / power ratio improves markedly, confirming the more sporty side of the bike. There is not only the ramage but also the plumage.

And nothing gets in the way of the simplicity of the painting. No hanging wires, no unsightly hoses, just metal and fitting; it’s clean and pleasant.
The 1200 Thruxton knows how to present its engine. She also knows how to spice up her silhouette with an authentic profile of a cafe-racer from the beautiful era. The berlingot has allure; the bike has just as much. Details matter and make the difference for amateurs. The simplest like the fork gaiters, the front wheel now in 17 inches or the single-seater saddle.
