Triumph 675 Daytona 2012

Menus

The 2012 version of the 675 sports a fine series of unspectacular touch-ups. Just new clutch and alternator housings where the Triumph logo is embossed, a touch of black paint on the brake disc rings and on the exhaust trim, a graphite color for the rest plates. front feet and rear footrest brackets, new lettering for decals, and new bronze anodized steering column nut… End of list. Not enough to panic the world of novelty but nothing to complain about either: the 675 Daytona is one of the most exciting trackers on the market, and these few modifications give it a little ‘more’ in perceived quality. However, it will now have to confront the MV-Agusta F3 on the grounds of mechanical originality and performance. Merciless and exciting match will be appropriate.

The 675 Daytona 2: Who remembers when England ruled the world, when there were more motorcycle brands than boats on the sleeve, where the mention of names like Sunbeam, Velocette, Norton caused a thrill? in the spine ?
And then, the CB 750 arrived. It took almost 40 years for England to recover from the shock. But the return was masterful. A sword strike over the Islands of the Rising Sun which bears a legendary name: Daytona. The 675 Daytona to be exact. A machine so formidable that it immediately upset the stars of its category … and even of the upper segment. A slap, which Triumph intends to keep close to the cheeks of the competition. To do so, 3 years after its appearance, the 675 Daytona has evolved. Without big changes, just enough to maintain a very high level.

Aside from the new elongated headlights giving it a more pronounced look, a more elongated fork crown, new indicators and a plate in front of the forced air intake, the 675 2nd version looks a lot like the first version. The upgrade focused mainly on the technique and less on the visual.

Triumph used its experience gained during the Supersport World Championship to improve the specifications of its little bomb. The three-cylinder can now take 450 rpm more than before and it develops 3 more horsepower, ie 125 nags. It should be noted that the machine now includes certain elements of the Racing kit as standard. The little Daytona has a new, lighter 2-kilo exhaust, recalibrated injection, modified combustion chambers, some internal modifications and, a nice little add-on, a pre-wiring to install a shifter.
The chassis is also improving. The 41mm inverted fork now features slow and fast compression adjustment in addition to the usual multitude. Nissin calipers are now one-piece for more consistency and feeling. The new wheels should bring more liveliness to angle changes. Especially since they are not shod with just anything: Pirelli Diablo SP; almost slick.

Lowered to 162 kg, the 675 Daytona does not manage to match (on paper) the record weight of the CBR 600. However, its 3-cylinder puncher of 125 cannons has enough to curl its mustache. Particularly gifted at the outset, this evolution of the English sportswoman will delight a large number of amateurs and even more trackers..
