Triumph showed its new Daytona 955 ’04 at the Paris Motor Show. Few changes for this vintage. The most significant change feature is the new fork crown, with two separate optics and a new bubble. Would the little Daytona 600 influence its big sister ? The rest of the fairing is identical. The side air intakes are still there but now painted in the tone of the fairing. Following the Centenary version, the Daytona had recovered its single-sided arm which it had put in oblivion for a while during its new version in 2002. It is happy to note that this single-sided arm is back for the 2004 version. Still not inverted fork or radially mounted brakes. The technological escalation does not seem to be the goal sought by the English. It doesn’t matter, you will say. The machine is still fun to drive, the charm of its 3 cylinders officiating from start to finish of the ride. Sporty without excess, the Daytona lets pure hyperpersports slip away to concentrate on the pleasure of driving a road sportswoman, and even on the circuit, the Englishwoman defends her rights; although now this place is monopolized by radical sports cars, more efficient than the Daytona but not as pleasant and comfortable on the road. We do not buy a Daytona to come and tease the GSX-R 1000 but to take advantage of the charm of its boiler and its more conciliatory philosophy. Track and performance are now the playground of the Daytona 675.
