US group surprisingly closes the still young chopper and cruiser brand.

The US group Polaris, to which besides Victory Also belonging to Indian and e-bike manufacturer Brammo, has surprisingly shut down the chopper and cruiser brand Victory. The news, which was published on Monday afternoon by the Polaris headquarters in Minneapolis, USA, comes as a surprise to the motorcycle scene worldwide. It has since been confirmed by the brand’s German press service.
Victory dealers Polaris announced that it will support them in clearing their stocks. Polaris plans to keep spare parts available for Victory machine drivers for another ten years. Warranty and service benefits will also continue to be offered, according to the group’s statement.
Reasons for the decision not given
Polaris does not really name reasons for the decision to close the motorcycle brand Victory after 18 years more or less overnight: “The competitive pressure has made the headwind for the brand ever stronger,” says Minneapolis. Indian also means that the decision will improve the profitability of Polaris in general and the level of the remaining motorcycle division.
Polaris wants to inform its shareholders about the costs of the decision and further details in a video conference on January 24th. How many jobs in the US and worldwide will be lost as a result of the discontinuation of the Victory brand is still unclear.
