The Spitfire, built until 1950. Young women in overalls and rigors of tolerance were probably still in demand as models. There is also a flamethrower.

It’s done after a good 1,100 hours. From a BMW R 1200 R LC from 2017 became a sprint racer, the Spitfire, during this time and from a lot of aluminum. In 2018 and 2019, VTR Customs competed in the Sultans of Sprints in Monza, Monthlery and Glemseck 101 and was able to take away some trophies. Including winning the Design Award 2018 and the Sound Contest 2019.

The technology under the skin

Important information: Not only the 123 decibel sound pressure measured during the Sound Contest exclude the Spitfire from public traffic. Another reason is the built-in flamethrower, which is coupled with the self-made exhaust and is ignited from the cockpit, which is equipped with original Spitfire instruments. The nitro injection for 45 bonus horses is no longer of any consequence. Together with the standard 125 HP of the water boxer, 170 HP appear on the drag strip. To this end, the chassis has been greatly modified: the fork is 90 millimeters shorter than in series production, 30 millimeters of spring travel remain, while the swing arm is rigidly guided by steel struts.

Over it an aluminum skin

VTR boss Dani, once a mechanic for old World War II machines, drives the BMW an aluminum skin onto the frame, which takes up and transfers the style elements of the old Spitfire machines. Don’t worry: no original Spitfire parts were cut up. Only the instruments already mentioned are original and came to VTR from Great Britain in Switzerland.

For sale

VTR’s Spitfire is for sale. The converted BMW is offered on the Classicdriver platform. This one-off item should cost 89,000 US dollars, 82,000 Swiss francs or 74,797 euros – depending on the cash level. On the other hand, the R 1200 R only has 180 kilometers on the clock, but it is always full throttle. But there is always something.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.

Better to leave it in its original condition.
