A seasoned specialist, the ex-Supersport pilot and IDM race winner Pascal “Ecke” Eckhardt, swings happily into the saddle of the Swiss-Japanese vehicle group and burns out of the Akrapovic titanium exhaust system with infernal smoke.

The scalpel

The Wellbrock-Suter Moto2 is hot, super hot – actually even more than that! Honda Wellbrock built on the basis of a Suter MMXI chassis that Andrea Iannone drove in the 2011 World Championships & Co. launched a very private Moto2 rocket. And PS she was allowed to drive.

Ja, the slogan of this story is trite, worn out and used up – actually it is on the PS-internal index for headings! But what do you want to do when exactly this headline describes the Wellbrock-Suter Moto2 perfectly?

Riding the Wellbrock-Suter Moto2 is like Christmas

Corner returns to the pits with shining eyes, more reminiscent of a five-year-old boy shortly after the Christmas presents than of a hardened racing driver. His first few sentences are not really quotable either. Then he catches up, his statements become clearer. Above all, three things give you goose bumps: a) the stability of the Moto2 in general, but above all on the brakes, b) the ease of choosing lines in corners and c) the brutal operation of the front brakes. “Never before have I turned into the curve with such ease on the brakes or have I been able to set the braking points so close to the apex – and have been so relaxed”, grins the Allgau broadly. “A very radical choice of line is possible, simply unbelievable. No wonder the guys drive so brutally in Moto2 – it’s really easy. “

Countercheck. The author swings into the saddle, rolls off, increases lap after lap. And yes, damn ax, Eckhardt is right again! The Wellbrock-Suter Moto2 circles the course as if on rails, or better as guided by a laser and held on the ground by superglue. When braking, it literally sucks itself onto the asphalt at the end of the parabolic, and then rushes towards the targeted vertex with the anchor loosening. The course is as playful as Maumau.

The performance measurement.

In the Suter chassis, a powerful, very well-tuned CBR 600 motor provides propulsion. Technician Wolfgang Harbusch used all of his Honda experience and, in contrast to the Moto2 regulations, but to our delight, taught the engine a very good behavior in addition to an appealing and durable top performance. In addition to the Suter anti-hopping clutch, the Wellbrock-Suter Moto2 has an HRC alternator, the HRC electrical kit and a Dynojet electronics package for performance and wellbeing. In the deepest inclined position, applying the throttle and pulling it up works extremely well, as does the gear changes thanks to the neatly coordinated Quickshifters.

Anyone who owns such a toy at this level of maturity can consider themselves lucky. And to get to the point: The Wellbrock-Suter Moto2 is a “scalpel”.
