First postponement of motorcycle competition in 2021: the WSBK event in Australia
While the official 2021 World Superbike calendar has not yet been released, a first event is already postponed: that of Phillip Island (Australia) which traditionally opens the WSBK championship.. The drivers, teams and fans are waiting. The coronavirus is still running…

The following week alas, everything stopped: not only the WorldSBK, but the whole world! Threatened – struck down in some parts of the world – by a coronavirus, humanity plunged suddenly into a pandemic that has not yet been stopped…
"We have closely followed the situation in Australia and around the world, and we have worked with our partners," said David Bennett, boss of the Phillip Island circuit which had been scheduled for October 23-25..
"We have delayed our decision as much as possible, but unfortunately with the uncertainty that reigns in the world today, we will have to postpone our World Superbike event", he regrets to announce…
False start for the WSBK, real concerns for MotoGP
"I know this means a longer wait for the fans, but the best drivers in the discipline and their production-derived machines will return to the island for some spectacular new races and the wait, as always, will be worth it. ", promises the Australian boss.
For his part, the executive director of WorldSBK indicated last week that he hoped to organize a 2021 championship with "between 11 and 13 events, including nine to ten in Europe and two or three outside". We now know that the opening round will not be contested on the other side of the earth…
Will this first postponement to 2021 be followed by many others, or even outright cancellations? It is still too early to tell. For MNC however, this announcement already casts doubt on the holding of the first MotoGP events scheduled for the end of March in Qatar and the beginning of April on the American continent (Argentina and the United States)..
The end of the 2020 season has not yet struck, so the pressure is already on the Grand Prix organizers. Relative pressure however, as Joan Mir recalled just after his victory in Valencia at the European GP. Dirty deal to follow on the Site, stay connected … and #RestezPrudents !
We’re incredibly lucky to do what we do
Lovely words from when he was asked about pressure in racing
